Card is incredibly niche and situational at best. 4 prizes cards is incredible, but how often are you even going to get into a situation where this card can knock out a Mega? The attack requires 3, sometimes 4 hits on a Mega to take it out. That is A LOT of opportunity to get knocked out yourself or some other interference.
Also the added issue of the card being almost completely useless if your opponent has no Mega in their deck, and correct me if I am wrong but I think the only commonly used Megas are Manectric and Ray?
It’s an incredibly powerful and almost game ending tech. No deck will revolve around this, but dark decks can tech this in for shits and giggles. It would not comes in when it has the opportunity to hit hard.
We all know that all the eeveelutions are coming in EX form.
We should get Sylveon EX and Flareon EX in CP3 and that just leaves Glaceon EX.
Yes, but in decks that don’t OHKO everything, this can be a great tech. Many decks can’t OHKO a mega, but can deal pretty high numbers of damage, putting it in range for Umbreon to KO.
Decks won’t be built around this of course, but it’s too good to not include one or two copies in dark-based decks. If your opponent doesn’t have a mega, then it’s discard fodder, but one or two spaces taken up to provide a massive threat to any mega evolution deck is worth it. Jacob Van Wagner (in his worlds-winning Archie’s Blastoise deck) threw in a Wailord EX and an Articuno, only to better his matchup against Night March, and it worked. These techs are definitely useful.
M Manectric, M Gardevoir, Primal Kyogre/Groudon, Mega Ray, M Gallade, M Sceptile, M Tyrantitar, and M Mewtwo Y are all at least somewhat competitively viable.
1 Mega left after Alakazam and Altaria. Really hoping Pidgeot would fill that spot but most likely we’ll receive Sableye. Probably too much asked Salamence would appear in this set ( another dragon type besides Altaria ).
May also be Audino as they could simply take it from the deck being released soon. Keep in mind this info is for the English set, and Japanese promos/decks/random things are often thrown into our English sets.
This year is jam-packed with awesome cards! Then again Pokémon is ofcourse, awesome in general. Can’t wait for that Alakazam and hopefully, Umbreon FA.
