Is there a way to pick up proxy cards? Here me out! lol

Hey guys, new again but old here. So about 2010-12 i got back into pokemon again and while on here decided to complete all my sets which i did about 99%. I didn’t bother with the more expensive cards, like the shinings even though they were cool af. I managed all the way to legendary.

I really want to complete the wotc sets but what the hell happened the prices of expedition and skyridge?? Even the commons are 10 bucks lol. Thats crazy

Are there way to pick up proxies of these cards? I understand its a grey area, but magic and yugioh does it so why not pokemon?

You could print off the images and stick them to cardboard?

Not sure what your point is here. Proxies are used by players when cards haven’t been released in English or they need an extra copy for a deck, but they’re unable to find it in time. They’re not allowed in official tournaments or anything outside of a friendly match. So it’s not really a gray area as it is something not even applicable to collecting. I doubt anyone here has a “proxy” in one of their sets.

If you’re looking to pick up cards at lower prices, you can always search out cards in poor condition (creases, edgewear, etc.), these will still be real but will cost a significant amount less. If all you’re interested in is having the artwork in a physical card, you can do some printing and gluing and viola you’ve got yourself a “proxy.” Just don’t be surprised if your collection is looked down upon by many.

I’m just asking to find proxy/fake cards to complete my sets, i can’t print them at home that would look so out of place and crappy. I’ve seen a guy on etsy doing them using photo paper, but theyre not holos. Basically i’m asking for fake shining cards or skyridge holos to finish up my collection

Just a heads up:

Counterfeiting is a detriment to the hobby. Asking for counterfeit cards on a Pokemon card collector forum is a bad idea. There are many people here who will take a very dim view of it.

So you want fake cards that are better than what you could make at home? What would be the point in having these fake cards? If it’s not the real thing you might as well just look at images of the artwork online which is 100% free.

I would suggest to print them out yourself to fill in the blanks if that’s your goal. Perhaps it’s an idea to print them in black and white in order to make it clear that these are stand-ins for cards you might eventually pick up to complete the entire set. You’ll get the joy of looking at a complete set and you can always upgrade later on to the real deal.

Trying to buy fake cards, which need to look as close to the real ones as possible, is a slippery slope. It’s illegal for sellers to sell them and it defeats the point of collecting, so the whole endeavor is kind of meaningless.

Please don’t support counterfeiters.
