I rarely dabble into new packs since I do not play the card game anymore and like the old school stuff more, but I noticed my local card store is selling Shining Legends Booster Packs at like 2$ USD per pack.
Not sure if I should buy some, but at that price, I’m getting tempted!
What do you guys think I should do? Should I buy some or just keep to the old school era stuff?
Tbh when that set was first announced I was very excited to pull those shining cards. I usually buy cards raw and avoid booster packs since that is the best bang for my buck. But with Shining legends I preordered a elite trainer box and the pack openings felt so exciting and nostalgic at the same time. This set features tons of great artwork also and at 2$ a pack thats a steal.
Call back to WOTC era
Non booster box exclusive
Garunteed holo or better
Arguably one of the best full arts that even the artist stated in his 20 years working with Pokemon said was his favorite art
Exclusive chase promos
I understand your sarcasm and I knew of those points but there may be other external factors that may make it an unfavorable set to purchase:
I may have gotten the price per booster back wrong, and while I thought 2$ USD was a deal someone may point out I may have gotten the numbers incorrectly
Those qualities do not matter if I have mistaken the massive print production. Like I said before, I do not follow new sets at all aside from snippets in E4 so the general conclusion I was getting that new sets were massively produced, way more than before.
Similar to point 3, a set similar to this was Generations, yet the price points of boxes between those two were extremely different. I never managed to get generations sets on “sale”, but I saw shining legends on sale multiple times.
I made this thread to confirm my predictions in terms of pricing and reaffirming what I heard about from this set. The information you mentioned was present when the set was released, so I wanted to make sure that the general consensus did not change now that the hype died down for this release.
Thanks for your input Scott! I just wanted to have something fun to open but also making sure that I was buying it at a good price. I don’t want to buy a bunch of packs and open product that I feel won’t bring much value in the long run!
I would definitely buy them. I had no issue buying ETBs and had a blast opening them which was like $4 a pack. At $2 it’s a good deal and the artwork is great.
Yea its definitely a fun set to open. I bought some zoroark boxes for the zoroark gxes but had a blast opening the packs themselves as well! I don’t know if their value will exactly hold up as time goes on [not exactly a ton of playable cards], but I could be wrong about that.
