So if you crack open a PSA 8 card, does that somehow change the POP report of how many of those cards exist? Like I heard others say they’ve cracked open a few PSA 10 Charizards and sent them to Beckett in hopes of getting grade 10 from them.
I also agree with Gary that a graded card will pull in more money that raw mint cards. If someone is spending $xxx on a graded card, they wouldn’t risk the same amount on ungraded. At least I wouldn’t. (This might have changed the original subject of this post)
There are a few MINT 1st ed holos on eBay right now. They’re in the Seattlegoodwill page. Two venusaurs, hitmonchan, magneton and mewtwo. Like they look pack fresh minty. So minty you can smell it through the screen. I wish I had the extra money to bid on them.
They had a Blastoise that went for more than the PSA 9 price… Crazy. I wouldn’t get into a bid war on these.
I actually meant to mention these guys before. Where do they find that stuff? Do people really donate high value cards to them all the time? I guess Seattle is vintage WOTC heaven.
I could understand paying psa 9 price but anything more is just insane. I was thinking the same too. Someone must have came in and donated a huge collection not knowing they just donated several thousands of dollars to them. I know my local goodwills would never go through the trouble of researching these and putting them on eBay. Why can’t someone bring in this collection and me pick it up for $20?!
Boy those holo singles on the goodwill page went for heaps! Far above psa 9 price on some. The bidding does look odd though with a 0 feedback bidder raising the price on many of those cards… at least it’s all going to a good cause, right? Haha
I just realized they all sold for exactly the same price. So it was (0) bidder bidding the same max on all of them, but the winners must have bid much higher just rolling the dice on getting a 10.
I chose not to purchase the holos but went for the non holo listings and didn’t win a single one, lol. I was just greedy with my bids, should have gone higher in the end
Wow I was surprised those holos went for so much, sure they looked high potential for 10s but sometimes defects don’t always show up in pictures.
I made a bid for one of the non holo lots but didn’t win, still trying to complete my holo set first so didn’t bid as high as I would have. If those non holos are all mint the buyers will still have a bargain at those prices.
If anyone’s curious, I’ve bought a few PSA 8 holos that have PSA 9 worthy front and backs but major centering issues. I don’t care much about centering so I’ll probably do this for the rest of the holos.
