@smpratte might have one or two things? Worth a tag

Smpratte currently has his PSA 9 Pikachu Illustrator up on ebay! Best offers are available. If you two could manage to spark a deal, the news of that sale would send ripples and shock waves throughout the whole of the Pokemon and collectibles worlds :open_mouth:

That’s true! I’ve spoken to op before he joined E4 and their offer isn’t in the same range for what I or any Psa 9 owners would currently accept.

The Japanese extra copy was the best bet, but that is gone. Otherwise hoping for a lower grade to appear, but I will probably outbid in that scenario.

Did someone buy all the stuff (namely the PSA 9 Illustrator and the ungraded 1999 Tropical Mega Battle No. 2) that pkonno had listed on ZenMarket? I know he pulled the cards recently, so that would make sense.

Holy moly! Just further proof of how unbelievably God-level the Pikachu Illustrator card is for the hobby. Our holy savior, Lord Helix, should be increasingly concerned about His status in our mortal lesser hearts.

I would have never believed in a million years that overall market prices could skyrocket to such extremes. But I couldn’t be more prouder as a devout lover of Pokemon to see it in its well-deserved spotlight. These prices convey the health and stability and inherent emotional value of the Hobby. The Pikachu Illustrator card is undeniably the supreme metric for the health and direction of the overall market.

Seeing it be sold for above $200,000, or possibly even $300,000+, will be a HUGE and PROUD moment for Pokemon and a VERY proud moment to be a Pokemon collector

A PSA 9 copy already did sell for $225,000 (if you count the house auction fee) in October 2019.

Not sure if the PSA 9 copy that pkonno had listed for about $250k recently sold or not (either way, if it had been listed on eBay at that same price it would have sold in heartbeat, buying items worth over $10k from Japan can be a huge pain in the ass.)

Thank you for enlightening me enlightenedbulbasaur! I had no idea one recently sold for that much. I’m just blown away. I completely understand now why an offer in the $200,000 ballpark would be insufficient for owners of this card. It appears that $300,000+ would be a more accurate modern-day assessment of the card. Jesus. Well I definitely won’t be owning one in my lifetime

Honestly the price for an illustrator is irrelevant, whether it’s 10k, 100k, or 1M. It’s entirely about acquisition.

So does $10 get me a picture with that card

Awesome grab on the 1st edition. That was a nice deal! If you are interested in trophies, there are a few on heritage auction. Illustrator is one of those which you have to wait for someone to sell. You really can’t tease them with an offer. Good luck though! It’s awesome to see more high end collectors come into the hobby.

I thought this post was going to resolve ALL of my collecting needs. LOL. Maybe someone has a few of these items and they can at least TEASE me with them so that I can negotiate whether you want to or not!!

This hobby may take a little leg work aside from dangling dollar bills

Dave, I get it. But, this is the “Buy Section.”

I’m dangling here, Dave…

I thought I had nice cards but dangle away I don’t have any of these grand slams

Over 200,000 for an illustrator?! But TMZ says I can have one for low low price of $50,000!
