Updated Buying Thread 4/24 - Best of XY

I’m looking for 2 boxes or some fair-priced select single full art cards. PM me with what you have. I don’t have a lot to spend, max is probably around what 2 boxes would cost.

No chance at those prices man especially if you want mint condition.

Mint ungradeds are selling easily for 100.00-130.00.

Where is this happening? I searched for “charizard 4/102 mint -psa” and nearly all the sold listings from the past month have been $50 or below. The only ones that went $100+ were shadowless.

well 9’s look like they are consistently going for $120+, considering the huge profit involved in scoring a 10, i could see those prices for ungraded mint no problem

Here is an example of one with good photos that sold (and feedback left) within those estimates. www.ebay.com/itm/Pokemon-Charizard-Holo-Card-4-102-1999-Original-Base-Set-Non-Graded-/282340586312

PSA 9s sell pretty regularly for about the same amount. If you want truly mint ungraded you will have to pay up. If minor wear is acceptable you can probably find one in your price range.

i remember a time a year and abit go when they were going for that much good times now so much money :slightly_frowning_face:

Perhaps on instagram, but the ebay data shows otherwise. With the sheer number of zards popping up daily, I can see OP finding a mint one at or below their price range pretty easily. In the past two months I picked up four beautifully clean copies for <$40 each.

I’m not talking about instagram lol, my numbers were pulled from ebay sold listings.

an auction with proper title and photos is a true indicator of value, not a low priced buy it now by an unaware seller

My search for “charizard 4/102 mint -psa” shows nearly all BIN and auctions that went for $60 or below dating back to the beginning of the year. I’m not going to inspect every listing one by one to see if they’re really mint, but the numbers are in line with OP’s range. I only mentioned instagram because cards typically go for way above normal prices there. If you can point me to the listings you’re referring to, I’d love to see how they described the card to get those prices, as I’d like to move some of mine.

why are you including PSA in the search, we’re talking about raw cards here.

can you show me an auction for a truly mint charizard with proper keywords in title and clear photos that went for the prices you’re quoting?

I’m excluding PSA in the search, hence the minus sign before the word. Here’s my search. Here’s the same search scouting for prices $100 and above. Not trying to start an argument, just stating the facts. Peace out.

This makes me chuckle, I remember when I first started re-collecting one of my first cards was a PSA 9 unlimited charizard that I got for $60 USD BIN…

Majority of the ungraded charizards on ebay are not mint. Those $60 auctions are most likely in psa 7-8 condition.

I buy probably 10 on average per month. 9s are the minority. 7-8 are the realistic average for advertised “mint” listings. This is a great example of a card to buy already graded.

I have a PSA 9 if it’s of interest

I have just spent the last 2 weeks searching for ungraded Mint condition Unlimited Base Set Charizards and I have to say…the ones that are on eBay for around $40-60 are almost Never NM-Mint condition; most likely a PSA 7 MAX.

A PSA 9 can be anywhere between $110-150. I would advise you on just buying a graded one if you’re truly looking for a Mint one! It’s easier xD

Very Much agree, Bought 7 off ebay, none got 10’s, 5 got 9’s and 2 got 8’s not worth buying unless your putting them in a ungraded binder. Save the cash and buy a Gem Mint 10.

This. They are solid 7-8s at best, almost all have too much white and scratches to be 9-10. Plus a majority of these were in binders so account for ring dents as well. Just a buy a 9 if you want it, most likely what the “mint” 100-120 auctions will get you, minus grading fees.

Can I see some pictures? Might be interested depending on where the issues are. What kind of price were you looking for? would you do $117.50?

Woo!

Good thinking going for graded. You’ll save a lot of time and effort and you’re getting a guaranteed mint card.

Seriously, well done. And it makes your investment that much safer.
