I am shipping out ebay orders and this was the buyer note:
Note from buyer: Please ship my card safely and neatly, and thanks for everything! For my records: This purchase is for a Zapdos ex from rocket returns in the listed condition, and is the same card as seen in the photos. The payment is for a real and authentic Pokémon card! -
I guess they are trying to guarantee the item and make sure it’s authentic, but I just found it odd. I’m not usually concerned about fakes when I’m buying. anyone get buyer notes like this?
@hisoka107, I just recently had a similar message from a buyer, but that transaction went smoothly without issue. I assume it’s just the buyer being super cautious and trying to “scare” off any potential scam. Apparently, they don’t know they’re dealing with a trusted seller in the community:)
Yeah, they must have bought some fake Pokémon cards from someone else and are trying to protect themselves from it happening again, without knowing you are trustworthy of course! It’s sad that happens to some newcomers to the hobby, despite fake Pokémon cards being relatively easy to spot.
I’m not too offended or worried they might think I’m a bad seller, but I was curious about it. you’re probably right with it being a newcomer or as others have mentioned they might have been scammed. If I have any questions I usually message the seller and give some advice, especially if it’s high dollar value. However, to this newcomer this might be a high dollar purchase. I’m always fascinated by people’s behaviors and oddities.
Being both a long time buyer and seller, I personally describe it to the best of my ability while still being concise. I urge my buyers to do the same, partly for my own records, but also because it feels safest. Listing all the cards present and general condition, as well as mode of shipping. Especially if I requested something like signature confirmation. However, this is usually for a sale outside of eBay. on eBay, it’s whatever. Not sure if I’m a little overboard or not, but it is how I am haha!
I had somebody buy a $3 card (free shipping) and ask me to send it in a padded envelope between two pieces of cardboard.
I also have quite a few $1-$2 cards. Sometimes they get lost in the mail and the buyer will ask if I have a tracking number. They probably don’t realize putting tracking on it would make the whole transaction go belly up. I just refund and move on. Still gives me a chuckle when I see it.
Had one Sunday saying “Hello! I am submitting immediate payment to you now to help expedite the processing and shipment of this order. Please ship this PSA 10 rated Pokémon card out by TOMORROW / MONDAY, and please make sure it’s packaged with ample padding and protection. Please and thank you!”
Just bothers me when people give me a “Ship by” time. It will go out in 1-2 days at most, but don’t give me a timeline. On another topic think submitting immediate payment means anything. You purchased the card, you should pay right then.
