I opened a Japanese Base Set booster box...

And here are the results. Very pleased I got the charizard, and i was blessed with a few blastoise’s and venusaur’s too. The only annoying thing was all of the trainer cards i got as well. At least now thats one of the things i needed to do before i die ticked off the list  Probably will send all this lot to PSA and see what grades i get…

Sweet!! My favorite Base Set holo is definitely Zapdos, nice to see you got a couple of those! Nice job on the Zard too

As if there was no magneton in there!

Such a beautiful set!

Yeah I agree, in the old boxes you tend to get a lot of a few different holos rather than a nice even spread. I really wanted a magneton too, i honestly didnt pull any :slightly_frowning_face:

Once opened a jungle box and it was only by about pack 50 out of 60 that i pulled my first Kangaskhan

IIRC, wakeruncollapse from youtube pulled 9 Pidgeots and not one mr. mime … crazy, sad, unfortunate, yet funny too (even he laughed afterwards)

I just wondered if anyone on here has much experience with grading these really old japanese cards? Is the production quality as good as it is today for japanese cards? Would love the zard to get a 10

The quality isn’t as outstanding as today’s Japanese sets, but still much better than English Base Set and English in general. I would definitely recommend getting at least the Charizard.

I opened 24 base set packs in August 2014, In December I sent 7 individual Holos I pulled to PSA including a Charizard I bought off of eBay. 7/8 Holos received 10’s, only Mewtwo didn’t and it got a 9. Japanese Base grade really well imo. Especially considering I bought that Charizard off of eBay and then sent it in for grading and it received a 10
