I’ve always loved this illustration of Helioptile charging up and the halftone comic style. Always thought of portraying it in all yellow with the yellow card background worked really well.

I love this thread. One of my favorite examples is Light Flareon, among other Light cards.
Certain species lend themselves to this more than others - I also feel it doesn’t always work, e.g. Hitmonlee has always felt bland to me -
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a Sugimori fan boy, I just think that particular art needs more depth and variety of color.
while Fossil, or in this case Legendary Collection, Gengar is a GOAT card for me.

I think GS Zard can work really well here especially in english in my opinion. The whole card has this black gray yellow/gold look thats very slick.

Artwork is unique isn’t it? There’s also a reverse foil version that I’m looking out for but I’m not willing to pay hundreds for it lol

Great thread idea! Excited to see what everyone posts. I decided to limit myself to cards I have in my collection.
I love stock Ken Sugimori artwork especially from the gym sets. The shades of green as well as the border make this card very aesthetically pleasing.
Yuka Morii’s Squirtle is among my favorite cards of hers. The yellow of Squirtle’s shell is striking just like the bold yellow borders of the e-reader cards.
Last but not least is arguably my favorite GG card from Crown Zenith. I am usually a full art trainer hater, but this card caught my attention with all the cameos. It captures a lush garden full of grass types hidden amongst the plantlife.
Honorable mention to the Bulbasaur AR from 151.

Just to clarify, what gold? I only see yellow.
But if JPN version, it should be in gold and it would look real awesome!
