this anime cardboard won’t buy itself smh
So ask me no questions and I’ll tell you no lies
Really all depends. I’d say on average somewhere around the $300-$400 range.
Approximately 5-10% of my take home pay on average.
It used to be $500-$1K a month. But I had some spending habits and financial irresponsibility’s. The past couple month only around $200ish. I’ve been getting my crap together and building up my savings account.
So unfortunately the next year or so will still be around $200. But I like it, because I like having goals and completing them one step at a time, makes me sport the what I have more. Currently I’m working on finishing some binder sets: gym heroes, gym challenge, shadowless, and wotc black star. Along with a shadowless holo PSA set. Then I have a big PSA card I’m saving for and a comic or two that I want. I think sticking around the $200 month range is good for me for a while.
A maximum of € 100 per month.
If it’s less, it’s less and remainder goes to savings account.
If it’s more, it gets decreased from next months budget.
Spent around $200 a week, but stopped buying cards 6 months ago. Probably now spend 20 mins a week watching the prices and poketube vids.
It used to be around 500-1000€ per month for several years. Spent most of my disposable income on cards and got lucky it paid off with those price increases.
Nowadays I actually sell more than I spend. I still buy new cards when I like them but at the same time I also sell a lot of old stuff to go more for quality over quantity.
Quality over quantity tbh…
Not really a monthly figure, just looking for good deals / auctions and getting great prices on my collection goals.
Been buying a ton these last few months. Seriously people just dont buy when logan stops telling them to (in fact they panic sell). The amount of collections I’ve been able to buy up has been crazy. And keep in mind I’m just a wailmer, not a wailord or kyogre by any means.
I imagine the wailords and kyogres are consolidating so much quality inventory that the next boom wont even be funny
Usually around $200. This month is particularly heavy because of celebrations. I think I spent around $300-400 with all the preorder payments going through in the past week and because of random singles I’ve bought over the month. As far as merch goes, I don’t buy much at all. I’d rather save the $20-$50 for cards or food tbh. I will probably buy a bunch of celebrations singles in the coming weeks. A lot of people (myself included) still haven’t gotten their celebrations so I hope that they continue to drop in value. I haven’t ever sold any cards and I don’t plan on it any time soon.
I feel that. I’m super small time and I’ve been picking up some really good stuff. It’s a great feeling
70/100 percent of my income for the last year and a half haha $2000+ a month but I have an addictive personality and have low outgoings, since I’ve got back in the hobby I’ve buying up all the cards I wished I’d got when I was younger.
Currently haven’t sold a lot, just hoping to live frugal outside of Pokémon and enjoy the hobby for the next few years before grading and selling, hopefully after 5+ years then I’ll sell some cards to fund my collection. ( in a dream world )
Either way I’ve been happier spending my money on pokemon this last year and a half than I have done in the years prior to me getting back into the hobby where I wasted my money on going out and drinking and other frivolous things, all the while I’m happy and enjoying it and getting good feelings out of it I’m happy.
As much as possible
More than none, less than alot
I have a couple of income sources so I tend to offload my 2nd one into various assets, including Pokemon cards. Now, I mainly buy Pokemon cards because I’ve been a collector since I was 7 years old and love collecting but at the same time I look at them as a store of value at this point so I’d sooner own them than have a bunch of cash sitting in the bank doing nothing. I get a lot more enjoyment out of it. I’d say on average I spend around $400-$700 a month, but lately because of the price reductions I’ve been probably spending about twice that. I’m getting pretty close to more of my short term goals though, so I suspect my spending is going to slow up over the next 6-12 months. The reason I believe this is because in some of the sets I’m collecting, it’s going to be really difficult to replace my graded 9s with PSA 10s that are such low pop.
*Disclaimer* …I didn’t bother to read other responses past pg 2… That said, what I spend on the hobby is not money I’ve saved, but simply expendable income for that month, instead of investing all of it in traditional investments or burying it in the ground at a local bank. I sell about half of that amount in a month. For me, my fun budget is $75 (stuff unlikely to see ROI like modern and empty retail packaging, or a few nice bottles of brew) and though I don’t have to, I run a very lean machine.
I had been spending a lot for a long time, but for the last year the spending has been mostly fueled by sales. At this point I’ve finally slowed down spending to about $400 a month so now I’m bringing in more than I’m spending and I want to keep it that way. This tail end of 2021 I’ve focused on paying off all debts, spending more for my own life enrichment. Things like gardening, home improvement, fishing equipment, spoiling my kids, etc.
I had an epiphany out of nowhere just a couple days ago that I need to start a new collection that is going to be extremely expensive and probably take me at least 2 years to complete. I’ll be selling a lot of stuff, even some things I thought I’d never sell, to try and fund it.
It’s a tough balance for me, as I have a few hobbies that are considerably expensive. Some times I focus more on one hobby than another. During the months where I’m more Pokemon focused; I could spend anywhere from $1000 to $2000 on assorted purchases. Though there have been occasions where I’ve exceeded this in my pursuit of higher dollar items like booster boxes.
It ebbs and flows for me. During months when I am not buying cards that get me closer to a goal, $0. On months where I’m focusing on getting a collection goal finished or an opportunity presents itself, anywhere from $100-$400 on average. I also let life override my hobby spending sometimes. My wife and I are about to redecorate our apartment, so hobby spending will cease for a time being. Keeping the spending healthy is key to long-term enjoyment
