How does this happen?

Might be a dumb question, but how does this happen? Jungle Unlimited Sealed box, selling for $822 with only 1 bid. How does that fly under the radar in a 7 day auction?

I would like to know as well. For some reason I don’t see some listings until the last day of its auction even though I’ve been searching for it everyday. Maybe it’s something similar to that? A recent example of mine would be 4 1st edition Neo Rev packs for $500 with the only bid being mine. $500 isn’t a steal like that box was but I definitely got a great deal.

I’ve been actively looking, granted I haven’t checked in about 3 or 4 days, but if this listing is 7 days old, I would have spotted it, and watched it. I find it very odd.

The auction lasted for 16 minutes before the seller declared the only bidder as the winner. This happens for a number of reasons: money laundering, creating fake sales to skew values, generating false feedback for new accounts, etc.

Interesting, you’re right, the start bid and bid are 16 minutes apart. I figured there was something fishy about it. Well thanks for the info @jj1,

How do you see when a ebay listing was ‘listed’?

@starkbait, on the linked site it’s the date/time next to the starting price. You can always sort by newest to see the time items were listed.

It was legit. It was a place bid or OBO. Seller accepted $1200. Seller also sold 3 other boxes at staggering low prices for today’s market. Guess it was a good pay day for them

I was the one who purchased that box and the fossil box. They were both legit offers that the seller accepted. He also accepted an offer for a base set box, but it wasn’t quite as low as I wanted to pay. I did indeed make the offer within the first couple minutes of the listing, he countered, and we came to a mutual agreement on the final price.

Just to be clear this is correct - if you look on the eBay app it says 1200

Those are legit solds. but higher than what ebay site shows; look it through your phone, prices are right.

Cool! Congrats on your purchases! You got a steal!
