But for serious… Its hard to know how to feel about this one, It seems the pokemon company did it for specific reasons and it backfired on them, and it may be to late to change this decision… Also it is pretty kewl that they love the pikachu name/ there language culture ect enough to do this in the name of pika.
Edit: Its also really good the pokemon compnay brings these versions to china.

I used to live and work in Hong Kong… I understand they whinge about alot of stuff. But anything where mainland mandarin Chinese is imposing on Cantonese style and culture, is a big no, no.
It’s really f**ked up in my opinion what there doing… I would be protesting as well if I’m there still… Well… Actually, maybe just looking for hot girls who like protesting pokemon… But the point is!
It’s degrading for Hong Kong, as it’s just another small f#ck you! saying your now part of China…

Ridiculous that this has been politicized. It’s more of a failure to distinguish between Cantonese and Mandarin than a mainland/HK thing. Means Nintendo is failing to recognize the 107,240,000 people who live in Guangdong too, not just HK. Obviously Pokemon has never been released on the mainland, but they still watched the cartoon…!
