Help identifying these errors. only known copies?

recently met this super cool guy while vending who has a master set of (all japanese) base, neo, jungle, all 3 vending series, all cd promos, misaki promos, all gameboy promos, corocoro promos, a pikachu snap card, etc etc. he lives in japan and purchased (most of, nearly all) these 15 years ago from junk bins and had tons of dupes. i was mouth watering over his collection and he got to the last page and has these japanese fossil/rocket cards that have the corocoro mew sparkle holo (not sure what else this comes on so im referring to it this way) alongside the cosmos holo which is barely even shiny) and extremely insufficient ink. all 4 are exactly the same holo-wise and ink-wise. 3 of them are rocket and one is jungle.. what are these? he’s unaware and can’t seem to find any other copies of them or anything about them online. i felt them and am nearly positive they are not fake cards. any info? i have his contact so i can get more angles of the card if you’d like to see.

The black print looks off to me. I think they’re fake as well. Sorry to say. These are my nostalgia (started with JP till Gen 2) and I’m always happy to see them, but they feel off… I’d have to see more pictures to be sure… texture, shine, dot pattern, etc.

it’s so odd to me because i inspected them myself and the backs seem so passable as real.. i have a video of the front and can get more like i said. though likely it is fake, it really really felt like a real card.. and proxies in japan? 15 years ago? i dont know.. maybe !

It was 25 years ago, fakes from china and usa

they were PURCHASED 15 years ago like i stated in the thread. thanks. not doubting they’re fake though.

These came from a Japanese seller on eBay that I would commonly purchase from about 8 years ago. Use to buy the bricks/cube of a few hundred vintage holos and luckily these were the only fakes I received from him. Definitely fake. Kinda neat though so I decided to keep them in a box until I saw this thread. Now back in the box they go.

Are the backs real? They look convincing from the photos. Reminds me of rebacked MTG cards.

Do the fronts have a CoroCoro Shining Mew-like shimmer foil layer? Neat!

backs on the ones i have from original post seemed real from the small amount of time i had my hands on them. the coro coro shine is only in the holo unlike in the photos in the post above yours. the cosmos is also there and slightly shows. but i’m sure they’re fake judging by the replies.

I have some that were from 25 years ago that look very legit.

The backs are fake. Decent fakes, but here is a comparison of a real Jungle Vaporeon on the left to the Fake Dark Dugtrio on the right. Like @xileets mentioned above, the black ink is quite off.

Also there is a very faint sparkle on both of mine throughout the card. It’s more evident on Dugtrio

I know you realize they are fake by now, but just to confirm it you can check the holo pattern on the Dark Dugtrio in both of our pictures. It’s literally a perfect match.

I’ve done quite a bit of research on these exact japanese glitter holo cards. I found a japanese Charizard like 2 years back. Found out that they were released in japan at festivals. They were purchased at food trucks/food stalls called “Yatai.” found a couple of people in japan talking about them.

You can find these fake holos in base set, jungle, fossil, and team rocket. Pretty sure every holo cards from these sets can be a Yatai rare.

The bootleg company typically scanned holos of real cards and they overlay a glitter foil, kind of resembling the coro coro shining mew, on top. That’s why you can see scanned holo Cosmo bubbles printed in the art box. I’ll post pics of my research. I own quiet a few now. I’ve just refered to them as Yatai (food truck) holos. I think they’re cool.
