Hi friends 
For the last 4 years I have been collecting vintage bootleg cards from ~1999. These may have been made in Asia but were sold and won at fairgrounds and such in the US, mainly on the East Coast.
Here is a photo of some of my favourites.
Does anyone else have any vintage “fake” holo cards from Base, Fossil or Jungle? I’d love to see them! Perhaps we could arrange a trade or a sale to help me grow my collection!

Back in 1999/2000 when the Pokemon phenomenon hit North America, fake Pokemon cards started showing up in tourists area (Niagara Falls is where I seen them). There were smaller cards and a photo copy of the real cards. I always thought it would be cool to buy and own a sealed box of fake cards. Then a year or so later, these spoof Pokemon cards came out. I think they were called Puke-mon. Another through back to my 70’s youth with those Garbage Pal cards. All this added to the fun of collecting Pokemon cards. Ahh the memories.
I think @nidokingdom collects vintage bootlegs too.

I don’t collect fake cards but I did keep the first ever fake I found from back in 1999. There was a store that sold cheap items in my town and they had a tray of these cards for sale on the counter. I bought this Raichu for $1 or so. I knew it was fake but I was amazed that such a thing existed and wanted one.
Very cool. What I’ve always liked about these fakes is that they keep the mon non-holo. I saw some from time to time, via friends at school, but didn’t have any until 2010s. I remember my first was Haunter, and I had to convince the pawn shop via ebay that it was a fake. Took 5 bucks for it. It was cool cause base Haunter is not holo, but this was. My others I’ve miraculously found via eBay as well, but it’s hard because many don’t know they’re fake,. and now want loads for a “misprint”. 
While very cool, I don’t really look for these anymore because of that.

the first ones my parents bought me were def those skinny ones with the purple backs from the corner convenience store lol
