Ah thanks, ya I feel the issue with Golem is simply that it has a small head I guess its similar with blastoise, you dont see much of those signed as the longer head Pokemon like Charizard are usually a bit nicer.
For Aritaâs limited you could have it addressed to any name or social media handle as long as it was ârecognizable.â I think they were still avoiding things like Trainer, Collector, Mitsuhira, or Ash. For the limited option, you can also have the name in Japanese and choose to have signatures vertical or horizontal and you can request the placement of where the names and sketch are.
As for drying the cardâŚI think it depends on your location due to the humidity and whatnot. But Iâd say at the very least wait 5 minutes if not longer. For rarer cards people were waiting about 10-15 minutes on average. Oh and no matter what you do, never give Arita a card in a sleeve otherwise he will auto it and put it back in the sleeve immediately. That happened to someone at this event. The instructions are to give him the card without any penny sleeves and I think thatâs a pet peeve when people donât listen to him.
Ah yes sometimes it may also be the pen that doesnât want to connect well with the card. One autograph collector told me the newer cards are a bit different than the older ones when it comes to writing on. Also glossy or texture card like the old vending cards or the new textured foils dont work for all types of pens. That collector mentioned its good to test it out with your own pens prior just in case. Otherwise youâll have to use whatever the artist has on hand and it may or may not work.
Thatâs super useful info I really like the Charizard sketch with the red flames so will take a photo example and most likely go with that for my sketch card
I saw that on instagram and met that guy this weekend. As an artist, I would agree with what @Dyl said and never intentionally draw on top of another piece of art in that manner. Iâm not too sure if Arita was told to do that or what. I would have rather had him autograph on the left and right of the booster pack as thereâs plenty of extra space thatâs just yellow background. But I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Again, people can do whatever they want. If they are happy thatâs all that matters. But personally I donât see the point in getting Arita to sign an item that has nothing to do with him/his art.
Clarifying question since I have never attended a signing event. Do they have all sorts of markers for the signature? I can imagine black and blue working for most cards, but what if the card itself is black, do they have a set of contrasting colors, or is it wise to carry your own?
Depends on the event. Sometimes artists in general have their own marker set but other times you will have to pay extra for them to use your personal markers.
At this event they had black, gold, and silver. If you wanted a different color, you had to provide your own pen. Luckily they didnt charge us for having Arita use our pens. You just had to present your pen when you hand him your cards and let him know youâd like him to use that pen.
This was my first autograph event and the most ridiculous thing I saw signed was those aliexpress knockoff gold bill and gold card by the guy who runs an entire local business here selling them. Arita was super confused and asked the guy what they were and the guy claimed he made them himself (a lie of course.) Not sure why Arita did not refuse to sign it other than he seemed tired / coughing a lot at that pointâŚ
