Is it true that there are both holo and non-holo versions of these cards? If so, how much (presumably) rarer are the holo versions?

All should be non-Holo.

Happy to be corrected on that though, they deserve the holo treatment!

Sellers on ebay are listing both Holo and Non-Holo versions, but they are the same stock image so I was confused as well.

I wrote my post after coming back from drinking. I just want to clarify. They are all available now, but half of them are only available at the Battle Feista event and not at Pokemon Center/Store events. So full sets will probably be very expensive on eBay as you can get an easy 5,000-6,000 yen for full sets in Japan right now, maybe more as I was seeing bids that high and they weren’t completed auctions.

Here is a link to the event. I have heard they will be doing another set of events, I think it was going to be November, but I know it was before the end of the year.

I know at least the store versions are non-holo. I have a few Misty cards and they are all non-holo. I think that seller has just made a mistake with their listing.

Also, notice the difference in price between the full set and the half set. The half set is a quarter the price. Next month the other half set should be the same price as the first half set.

I think the half set price will drop to around $20 plus shipping, maybe less. I know I will have another 10 sets by next week, just have to see how minty they are.

The other cards from the event are going to be crazy expensive. Mew/Pikachu set will probably be $100 or something.

I doubt it. There is currently one on eBay for 66 USD which is already quite overpriced due to the only one available. I think these will be around 40-65 at first for the pair, and will be lowered to about 30-50 after more are coming up.

You might be right, but I think that person might have mis-priced their set as there is no set price yet as they have only been out for a day. I often see items, even from Japanese sellers, that are priced under what they sell for in Japan. I know I have bought items from Japanese sellers on eBay and sold them for double on Yahoo. These were all popular well known current cards that shouldn’t have been priced so low as I was able to sell them within a couple days. Prices will probably drop as more events are held, but I was commenting on the price now, not at the end of the month or the end of the year.

Why I think they might be around $100 on eBay is because the event is way different this year and all the cards that are exclusive to the event are going to be a lot harder to get. Here is my reasoning.

  1. They have only confirmed 2 events so far and prior years were 4. I have heard there will be more but I have not seen anything official.
  2. The 2 events are only 1 day each. Prior years were usually 3 events being 2 days and 1 event being 1 day.
  3. To sum up 1 and 2 there are only 2 days of events confirmed vs 7 prior years.
  4. The set is 12 points. Getting 12 points, at least at the Tokyo area events which I have been to and can comment on, is hard. That’s a full day to get that many points. I know for 2014 some guys I was talking with were saying the lines to play the events were so long they wouldn’t have enough points for the top prizes.
  5. At the events a lot of the attendees are children with their parents. These cards are not hitting the market anytime soon and if they do there is a good chance they won’t be NM.
  6. There are good cards all the way up. At 6 points you have a Full Art Mewtwo.

I think snagging that set at the price is going to be at worst an ok buy and might turn out to be a deal. Though I could be entirely wrong as they aren’t Full Art and that will mean a lot lower price vs them being Full Art.

We will know in the next 24 hours what the pricing will be like.

Well I messaged a seller and they confirmed that the XY-P Badges were indeed available as both a holo and non-holo variant. They also said that they had the cards in hand, so they are out there.

Looks like it.

Also I just got the Mew and Pikachu pair for 4000 yen, BIN price. So tbh at the moment the cards are going for a decent price.
