Got 95%, these were the ones I missed. Was harder than I thought!

I spent like 30 minutes thinking of the last 4 and just couldn’t remember. Proud of myself though

Gave myself 20 mins…some tragic misses

Everytime I do one of these, I know there is a million water types, and yet still always miss one.

I got 146 in 5m 30s then gave myself until 10m. Didn’t get the remainder: Meowth, Persian, Slowpoke, Slowbro and Lickitung.

Took a long while after the first ~125-130..

Tbf, I’ve done this same quiz like three times before in the past, as in halve a year ago or so, and I did a lot worse the first few times. Some Pokémon like Tangela; Lickitung; etc. are pretty forgettable.

I am curious how you guys are systematically trying to come up with the names, though. After I’ve done this quiz three times now, it seems my method stays roughly the same:
After all the easy one, I personally go through the gen 1 gym-leaders and trainers of the anime and try to remember all their Pokémon (e.g. Koga’s Zubat; Erica’s Vileplume; Misty’s Goldeen, Staryu, Starmie, etc. etc.); then I do the same for the first movie (which is usually how I remember the female trainer’s Dewgong, which is otherwise also pretty forgettable); then I try to remember by card collection for the Base Set, Jungle, Fossil, Team Rocket, etc.; then some memorable moments in some episodes of the anime (e.g. Sandshrew in that Samurai-kid’s place; Pinsir that almost cuts Ash’s Metapod in halve; Porygon and Tauros in the banned episodes; Tentacruel that destroyed the city; etc. etc.)

I’m curious what parts of your memory you guys/girls try to remember the Pokémon from after the first 100 or so are done.

Greetz,
Quuador

My pattern typically is this: I can do through vileplume by memory, then backwards mew to ditto by memory, then all the single stage mins at the end (magmar jynx etc). Then gym leaders mons, and pray that that gets me close

I have the order memorized. I’m attempting to memorize the order of the entire national Pokédex and am taking it one generation at a time. So far I can make it through Gen 4.

I’ve recently finished completing the national Pokédex in every Pokemon game. I think this helped me memorize the order of the Pokemon since the Pokedex order loosely follows what order you encounter the Pokemon in game. So as I’m memorizing I basically go through all of the routes and dungeons in the game.

Gens 1 and 2 Pokedex are a bit more sporadic. For example, Jigglypuff follows Clefairy in the Pokedex and are found around the same area but for some reason Vulpix and Ninetales separates them despite not being able to encounter Vulpix until way later.

Generations 3 and 4 definitely follow the appearance order a lot more and were actually quite easy to memorize

I maintain we will be forever limited by the way that gen 1’s dex was organized. As an example every Pokémon should have its dex number reduced by 1. If gen 1 was released today both nidoran would occupy a single dex slot and then just evolve into different mons like wurmple

Tried doing it in Pokedex Order as well, got to like Raichu, and then went rogue! Probably could of done it quicker

Interesting question! I actually am remembering the pages from an old handbook of the 151 lol.

As in, when I think of what’s next I am trying to think of the illustrations used in that book. It’s all Sugimori key art anyway I think. So it’s normally dex order but yeah, kinda funny now that I think of it.

I go in dex order personally
