One thing that stands out as you start to look for these is how framing really can kill it.

Then sometimes, an artist instinctively gets close, but it isn’t quite right.
Still, my second favorite meowth tho. :grin: Gold shows perfect placement. Black is where I feel artist [fuchino] wanted it to be.

Great topic! It’s a very natural curve that one can obverse almost anywhere -intentional or not. For pokemon artwork it favors pretty much any 'mon that is serpent-like or with a tail that can counter the rest of its body.

I’m noticing Arita likes to include this curve a lot in his illustrations:
