Gold Star and Neo Shining Price Tracker

Mildly off topic but to touch on the fedex story. I shipped a Shining Zard a couple months ago, long story short, lost in transit. UPS said if I took insurance case closed no card back if found. I held off taking insurance and guess what showed up ! NEVER on a big card(s) take payout right away, sometimes it truly is just lost and will show up.

I dont see why they arent comparable.

Both have similar pops in psa 10s (rayquaza has more). Lguia is king of gen 2 and Rayquaza is king of gen 3. If anything Lugia is a more popular pokemon and has a bigger fan base.

Lugias fan base would need to be so much bigger such that it counteracts the supply.

Rayquaza is roughly one per case whereas Lugia is closer to one per box. And that’s assuming both sets had similar print runs which they did not

My post is talking about psa 10s. They have the same pop amount

Collectors that grew up on Gen 3 still needed to come into money, whereas the buyers of the PSA 10 Lugia were already more wealthy in comparison that time around

Imo the Lugia is the poster child for conditional rarity, and that’s rather lame. The total pop shows how much more common it is so it’s astounding it sells for as much as it does tbh

Thats fine but how is this situation different to gen 2 collectors coming into money 5 years earlier and still the value of the card drops.

I dont disagree that lower grades rayquaza should sell for more than lugia’s but the same for 10s can’t be said imo.

Even Charizard have experienced this (gen 1 of rayquaza’s).

When it comes down to it , it’s really about the popularity of the card not just the PokĂ©mon the card has illustrated on it.

Lugia vs Rayquaza psa 10 back in the pandemic times was a no brainer to older collectors with money. They remembered that card , they wanted that card , they had the money for that card and tried to make it THE card to have next to 1st Ed Charizard in any grade.

You now have people who know more about Pokémon and the history of vintage with all the hype that brought in people that want to invest and collect in Pokémon cards. The history of how hard it is to pull certain cards from certain sets. Like GS Ray is much much widely known , plus the art work has been said to be one of the best in the tcg.

The GS ray is only getting more pricey now in a psa 10 because of all the attention gold stars are getting yes , but also because the card itself is considered a grail far more than the psa 10 Lugia.

Psa 10 Lugia most recent sold is around 45k usd

Psa 10 GS ray is doubled that if not more.

Psa 9 1st Ed lugias sell for 5-6k vs an psa 9 ray having solds of 20-23k and if Lugia were more poplar than the ray it would be far more higher.

Population count doesn’t matter. Popularity does and with research you will see how GS ray is far more popular than 1st Ed Lugia.

Yeah it is odd the market doesn’t seem to care about the same cards that we’re pumped in COVID.

I just think the supply factor of some of these gold stars shouldn’t be discounted. They’re as scarce as English set cards get and if everyone suddenly decides they want them it’s a recipe for what we’re seeing.

If Charizard or Lugia had supply anywhere near as low as ex, the COVID pump/bubble would have been a lot wilder

I don’t want people wanting the Lugia 1st Ed lol Let the prices stay at 4-6k please lol

fedex/ups one-day/overnight/etc seem to be major targets for small packages coz they are likely to have gold/jewlery/pokemans/whatever
ironically ground is likely the safer option

I’m just here to make history.

I have only had bad experiences with FedEx. Literally watched the truck drive up to my place, then leave within seconds. Received a notification that attempt for delivery was made and I need to pick up at blah blah blah location lol

UPS hasn’t done me wrong
 yet
 lol

ive luckily never had any back experiences with any of them, other than like shipping delays or misrouting occasionally i guess. but it does seem like all the super high value packages that got “lost” all used one-day
i personally wouldn’t use anything faster than express which is like 2/3 days.

there was that time when ups basically stole all the packages from everyone that was shipped from goldin and rerouted to who knows where wonder if they ever resolved that
