So after completing the holos for 1st edition base im turning my attention to getting the complete non holo set!
I decided I would enjoy completing this most as a binder of Near Mint/Mint cards and decided to purchase my first Pikachu ultra pro premium binder to put them in as @smpratte rated them! I have to say I love the binder! Such a upgrade from the standard binders im used to. Ive picked up a few cards already and added them to the binder :

Wait, are you saying you have seen enough charizard collections?!! Is that possible? 
I would love to see a Psyduck collection that would be cool especially in binder form! To be honest seeing all the different artworks of each pokemon is enjoyable anyway certainly the first gen for me anyway as I grew up with them.

So I had a short stopover in Hong-Kong recently, I was mostly there to catch-up with a friend and see the city but I decided to try and hunt for some Chinese Base Set cards while I was there. I thought I would share my experience incase anyone else is hunting pokemon cards there in the future.
I tried searching for pokemon and tcg shops via Google maps and from Google in general, this was fairly effective in Japan however the level of interest and tcg shops is obviously much higher in Japanese cities, it was fairly tough to find any shops selling pokemon tcg, @kkthxbai also gave me a few areas to check out, thanks again for your help!
I managed to find a shopping centre/mall called āsmiling plazaā in the area of sham shui po that had a few tcg shops a couple of which stocked pokemon (mostly modern stuff). From the outside it doesnāt even look much like a mall, it is on Google maps though if anyone is searching for it in the future.
I had quite a long chat with a guy in one of the shops I asked if he stocked any old pokemon cards, he pulled put a folder and turned to a page, there was a couple of English unlimited base set holos and rares/uncommons as well as a no symbol jungle vaporeon. I asked him if he had any old chinese base set cards. He knew nothing about them and had never seen any, he didnāt think they even existed so I showed him a picture of some. He thought that it must be fake because he said the only chinese cards they had ever seen were fakes.
I explained they were legitimate but very rare and showed him a couple of videos showing pulling from packs etc, he seemed pretty excited to find this out and showed a couple of his friends there. I guess this shows how hard to find these cards can be even in the places they were originally distributed. Needless to say in the 4 hours or so I had to hunt for Chinese cards I didnāt have any success, I definitely needed more time and probably more recommendations of places to check.
Anyway I didnāt come away with nothing I decided to pick up the vaporeon and also the new japanese red/pikachu promo which I haggled to 250 hk dollars I think thatās about market price right now. Both great cards in my opinion!

Glad I could recommend some areas for you, as I used to live there for a while. It was pretty dense and dried up before I was there as well, Hong Kong is a small city. With mass fast turnover as their limited on space.

So its been a while since my last collection update! I havenāt been so active as I have been overseas a lot the past couple of years but it looks like I timed my UK return at the right moment!
I met Mitsuhiro Artia today in London which has been on my list of things to do for ages! I never brought any cards already signed by him as I really wanted to meet him in person and have that memory associated with the card and managed that today after missing him in Japan a while back.
All the zards! Unfortunately there was restrictions in what he was allowed to do, so I only was able to get a sketch on one of them which was the sponsored signing. Its a shame because I love the little sketches but I am still very happy either way!
I also got a couple of cards from my childhood Jungle set signed. Love the cubone artwork and thought it would be fitting to get the Kangaskhan done too.
