Sweet! I still need me one of them LC Non Holo Zards!

They are not that easy to find in mint condition! I’ve been on the look out for a while. This one should get a 9 at PSA I reckon.

*not just charizards

Every post has some sort of charizard. Lol. Not many people have this problem

It’s been a while (about 9 months) since I brought a Pokemon card due to travelling! But now I found a job in Australia I thought I would treat myself to a Pokemon card purchase. Won’t see them till I’m back in the UK but my dad sent me a picture

Nice, you going for the Jungle set now?

Yes, I would like to eventually have a complete 1st edition jungle set as jungle unlimited was the first and only set I completed as a kid so I have fond memories of jungle

I am still collecting charizards and I have multiple other collection goals including 1st ed chinese base, gym challenge 1st ed etc etc. I just can’t decide which one to prioritise! 1st world problems lol

Because you know I’m all about that base,
'Bout that base

I think this is the best Charizard collection I’ve ever seen–awesome job! Know of any Charizard collection you’d rank higher?

Sorry, only just saw your post! Thanks alot  I have put a fair bit of time and money into it! Still got a way to go to complete my goals but very happy with it so far! I like to think mines pretty decent but I know for sure there are people with some insane charizard collections, @garyis2000 for example!

I have another to add to the collection though and it’s one I’ve been hunting for a while, finally brought one and at a decent price considering what they have sold for recently!

Happy you like the collection  I generally buy charizards in psa 9 if I’m not getting them ungraded as the premium on 10s is normally a bit too expensive for me! Nearly every 10 in my collection I’ve graded myself!

I recently returned from a trip to Japan, I was mostly backpacking/site seeing but I also had to fit in some card shopping of course. Luckily I had some tips off other users in this forum to help me out, thanks for advice guys!

I started off in Osaka where I visited the two Mandrake stores and Ota road near den den town. I found as other people had mentioned a lot of the rare cards were in poor condition, I saw crystals, shinings, goldstars and some no raritians but none were in great condition. I ended up picking up the cards below, the charmander I had wanted to add to my collection for a while, the world champions pack Charizard is minty and quite a hard to find in this condition (i think only 5 in PSA 10) and a set of 1993 DBZ cards for my side collection

I saw one fake card in a store, a crystal celebi, so if anyone is going to do any card shopping in Japan just be aware this can happen I only saw it once though. See the card below next to a legit Lugia.

I visited various other places after Osaka, such as Kyoto, Kobe and Hiroshima but they arent really great places for card shopping. I did find one fairly decent store in Kyoto near the Hachiyozan anyo temple. It had a goldstar and some shining cards but my next purchases came in Tokyo.

I spent at least a full day walking around checking the card shops in Akihabara, and the Mandrakes at Nakano and Shibuya. You really have to search around and check all the different small stores and high and low in some of the display cabinets to find some of the best stuff. I was pretty happy with my pickups, none of these first three were brought in Mandrake, I think as they are so well known now a lot of the best cards are picked up pretty quickly.

However, I did find this beauty at the Mandrake in Akihabara…

Very happy to own my first trophy card

One other random Pokemon thing I loved was the Magikarp version of Taiyaki (kind of a japanese pancake/waffle thing with different fillings).

And I brought this Eevee/flareon for my niece at the pokemon centre for christmas, so cute!

Glad you enjoyed Japan. Nice pickups  yeah it’s really hard to find the gems here. Everyone thinks it’s so easy and gold stars everywhere. But it’s not.

Still some Dam awesome pickups. It’s hard to find alot of these in Japan.

If you ever come again, and need help with places or locations. Just let me know.

Same goes to any e4 members who want advice or to visit us, I’m happy to help people as much as I can.

Yes unfortunately it’s not just raining goldstars and crystals Haha! Thanks, I was pretty chuffed with my pickups! I almost missed that goldstar charizard it was literally on the bottom shelf corner of a display cabinet. It’s weird you would think they would display their high end items so they would be easier to see!

Cheers for the offer, If I’m ever back in Japan I’ll drop you a message

After being away from home for a year I came back to a few PSA returns and card purchases, it was a bit like a second Christmas! The highlights are below:

1st edition base additions, thanks @garyis2000 for your help with these:

Already had the Charizard but had to take a big three photo

Chinese Blastoise to go towards my Chinese base Holo set, love the dark Charmeleon w stamp artwork. The Charmander completes my evolution line for the championship promos:

And of course Charizards! group shots

One step closer! Only one more card to complete my psa graded 1st edition base holo set! Love this card too, I feel like the Ninetales is a little underrated in this set.

Thanks @subbasshead for your help with this one.

This Mewtwo card below signifies a big collecting objective achieved for me! I managed to get a good deal for it with the 10% off eBay offer

[

I](DSC_0165 | fireftw87 | Flickr)ts been over two and a half years in the making but this card means I have finally completed a 1st edition base holo set in PSA 8/9!!! I am so chuffed, thanks to everyone on the forum that helped achieve this goal I believe 14/16 cards were purchased through members of this forum. See the final result below

The update doesn’t end here! I completed not one but two 1st edition holo base sets this summer picking up the final three cards I needed from the first edition Chinese base set from Pokemonchina. I love the Chinese text on the cards this is one of my favorite sets.

The full set below:

And the final thing I wanted to share on this update was the only set that I ever completed as a kid back in 1999/2000 (so not a new update but something I wanted to share). The cards are still in the original shitty binder I kept it in years ago and they are a bit beat up of course (or well loved as I like to think of it). This is one set of Pokemon cards I would never sell! I used to buy one holo a week off my brother with my pocket money when he lost interest in the game. He didn’t have the clefable though and I remember I had a real tough time finding someone to trade for that at school. Another thing I remember looking at these is thinking as a kid why doesn’t the Snorlax have a jungle symbol? For a while I thought it was a base set card!!
