I hate to bump this super painful thread but I’ve been following it the whole time and it was one of the first things I thought of when I had a wild experience today.
I just received a card today that was shipped untracked letter mail within the same city on July 5th. July 5th… 2020.
For what its worth - also had a lost shipment with Fedex recently. Left Japan, arrived at my local depot on the Friday, Monday morning no movement, same for a few days, got in touch and it was MIA. Turned up a week later hundreds of miles away. Finally got it and it was bashed up a lil but most of the contents were OK.
At this point, trying to decide which cards I’d like to chase & get back into my collection. Simply cannot afford the grades I had previously. I’m thinking of going after a PSA 8 Shadowless holo set… Wish I could do 1st ed base again but that ship has sailed.
If you have 250k of cards… why did you not just fly or drive it to the destination That is a huge risk, the mail system has gotten worse. Oh my… I hope they find your box
Just wanted to post since it has been about a month. Still no good news unfortunately.
I do have all of my non-holo PSA graded cards, which is nice but have not attempted to restart my collecting goals. Haven’t watched the market after this event happened… Which sucks. Nearly all of my recommended Youtube videos all revolve around the Pokemon Market & I cannot stomach watching them anymore.
I’d like to start purchasing again but man it was nice being able to purchase a card then sell a duplicate to get that money back. When you don’t have that luxury… These prices really do seem steep. Oh well, maybe years down the road I can start putting money back into it. Miss those 2018 prices.
Thanks again to those who have listened to my story.
While there should always be at least little hope the reality of the current situation has to be accepted. There’s always a chance something will show up, at a certain point you have to move on and make decisions under the assumption it won’t. I think OP has a done a good job of this so far
This may not be necessary but for those who care, no good news. I threw in the towel a few months ago. FedEx could never provide me w/ any valuable information after calling over and over and over.
Many sleepless nights & heartache. I’m fairly young (25) & had all equity in my collection then poof. Gone. Back to the rat race of being a W-2 employee (yay). Things always could be worse but certainly wish they were better.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who offered advice. This has been the worst experience of my life, outside of losing my father in 2020.
Mods - you can lock this once again. I doubt I’ll have another update unless it miraculously turns up.
Super random… I just found an eBay account that has numerous cards I lost. Checked against the list & pictures I have and can confirm 100%.
What should I do? Obviously my package ended up somewhere & the cards were distributed in some type of manner. I still don’t really have legal grounds (in my opinion) to come after FedEx as I didn’t insure the item… But… any ideas?
Given that they seem like a pretty big seller, I would think that they didn’t receive (steal) your cards directly and probably bought them as part of a bigger lot. I think you could message them and tell them about your situation. Also probably link them to this thread. I would ask if they could look into it and if they still had the info of who they bought it from.
