Legendary Collection is a bad set? that’s a top 3 set of all time.

Whoever wrote that might have never opened it or experienced it

It’s a reprint set, nothing in it was new hence why it collected dust for 20 years

The art was reprinted but there was so many first time things that happened in the set. A lot of cards got holos for the first time(galaxy holo), reverse holos were released, set has some of the best holo rares, it’s also a very expensive set and hard to grade, LC has been a top tier set since it came out. Besides skyridge,ex deoxys which set is on the same level as LC?

Base 2 is on the same level. The reprint trash level

Base set 2 was meh. Never saw the point of that set besides the cards being more accessible to people

What makes a set boring? Not a fan of the ARs/SARs?

Pretty much. With the original Pokemon from Gen 1 I thought it would’ve been so much better. Better ARs/SARs. A nod to the original art would’ve been better in my opinion for them. I was just disappointed is all

XY flashfire (I’m just baised lol) and probably Brilliant Stars.

What was the point of base set 2 again?

Ask WOTC

From what I see, it was basically overwatch 2 when it first released: Useless)

Double Crisis: I know its a mini set but it had storytelling and I’m a sucker for team led cards.

to make cards more easily available to players.

Although 151 is nostalgia bait, I have seen more people want to complete it than any other set since I first returned around Chilling Reign. That also shows in the prices with the bulk CGI full arts holding decent prices for what they are.

Personally, TPC should aim to get closer to MTG in terms of theming their sets. That’s an area of huge potential being left untouched since their set names refer sometimes to just 1 card in the entire set. It’s ridiculous.

Of course this will still not translate that well to TPCi but we’ve got to start at the source.

Otherwise modern sets have little to no cohesion or collector’s value as a whole.

Even if we take its entire history, there are probably only 5 or fewer sets with some kind of unified identity.

151 has been certainly a great product that still makes me excited, I’ll give it solid 9/10 rating, if they ever release similar set based purely on Johto region I’m sure chef’s kisses will be flying across the globe.

Another set which deserves at least honorable mention is Evolutions/CP6. Biggest set of 2016, a year when Pokemon started to become socially accepted mainstream hobby once again, this set really brought current and new fans together.

Eevee Heroes, 151, or Crown Zenith for me

I’m gonna say Ultra Shiny GX. When that set came out, it was a dream come true. It has an all star cast of Pokemon.

Eevee Heroes is beyond a dream set in that I never heard anyone hypothesize about a set devoted to Eeveelutions. It’s like fan fiction.

151 is only great because its a relief from the saturation that has happened with 1000 PokĆ©mon. It’s nice to open a pack of PokĆ©mon cards and know the names of every PokĆ©mon.

I for Japanese sets, I am tied between Battle Region and Triplet Beat.

For English, I would have to say Lost Origin was my favorite.

Yea that was the reason wotc gave. But we all know it was just to make more money.
