Just a quick question as to whether people would say this is real or not. New to buying singles from eBay and I’ve heard of people throwing in fakes into PSA cases. Not sure if that’s a real thing or not but if it’s not then I learn something new. Thank you1 ^^
Knowing you need a pair of clippers or wire cutters to crack those cases open I doubt.
You can always run the PSA ID through their website and see if the code matches the grade and the card itself. If the ID doesn’t show up at all it should ring all alarms.
The case looks legit. It has the embossed PSA logo on the lower right.
Just to clarify PSA cases can’t be resealed without distinct evidence of tampering. There was (and possibly still is I suppose) an issue with a certain individual placing a PSA card and PSA cert. label into another manufacurer’s case. Yours is not one of those
The edges of psa cases “frost” when you mess with them. It’ll look like broken glass and you won’t be able to see thru the frosting very clearly. A little spot or two isn’t anything to worry about but an entire edge of frosting probably means it was opened. Your case is perfect. Use it to compare to any future psa cards you buy.
Several buffoons have managed to take GMA cases and put PSA labels in them so they look like PSA cases (see fake SNAP Pikachu). Those aren’t difficult to spot though.
Let’s keep in mind that cracking cases for any reason are all akin to theft. Whether deceiving customers by trying to get upgraded, resealing different cards, etc, it’s all the same. Stealing.
Does that mean the review service is stealing? I understand your line of thinking Gary, but I know it’s not black and white. I also don’t think people regrading when there’s a legitimate concern for a cards grade is more than two slots low is an issue. I would however, like to know where the line lies with people, I’ve been on the fence every time the issue has come up. I’m not talking about people that send in a card three or more times, that’s obviously wrong. But if a card is at a .5 grade per se, is it okay to regrade that card? does it make a difference if it sits between a 9-10 or if it’s an 8.5? Does the card itself matter?
One of the biggest sellers on eBay cracks and grades a half dozen times trying to get upgraded. I swear to never buy/trade cards from them because I know what I’m getting. I like strong cards for the grade. Not weak cards which I know you do too;)
