Fake 1st Edition Base Stamp or am I paranoid?

I just got this 1st edition Computer Search in the mail and my gut reaction to the stamp was that it’s a forgery. The scanner did not do a great job of picking up the details but the ink looks shiny/glossy-ish and its even smudged slightly. However upon zooming in it only becomes more dubious to me as the letter “O” does appear to be an octogon instead of the perfect oval shape. (Thats a good thing). But the number “1” does look a little funky to me. I would love to hear some of the experts thoughts, perhaps I’m just paranoid! Thanks.

1st edition stamp again lol. Smpratte we need you on this one definitely. I can see difference and similarity this is becoming way too hard. We could really do with a thread on the variety of genuine examples for all of wotc.

It’s also a little trickier to identify since it’s a trainer card and not a species. I’m not sure if there’s an alignment trick for trainer cards.

I mean both images are ~5 print dots from the bottom (depending on how you count it). That’s a pretty good indicator

Curious also. But man, on a Computer Search of all cards?? Will be interesting to see if anyone can validate further.

If this isnt real its a super good fake. If it is real it shows more variation and the more variation the easier it is to fake something. Im so glad i dont have to deal with much 1st edition its becoming a minefield.

That was my thought too. But I guess if they have a way of stamping shadowless cards they would stamp them all. There’s a decent margin on shadowless vs. 1st edition even with non holos.

I overlayed them in Photoshop and they’re pretty much the same if that helps at all

This looks real to me. There will be some natural variation. Curious what others think too.

Its real imo. Enough matches up for me. Great pic i was counting the dots every which way for all measurements and this confirms what i think on it.

Thanks for the help! It is pretty convincing when overlayed like that. As I said, the scanner didn’t pick up the texture of the stamp which was the most off putting thing about it but perhaps it’s just not something I’ve seen before.
