I’m pretty sure many are opening the evo boxes to get that psa 10…153 graded so far and the last 3 were were graded within the last 2 months, about 200 cards total in the last month alone(i’ve been keeping track >.<) Not saying they got lucky at all, i’m just saying more people are submitting the zard to get it graded hoping for that 10 and in due time, these boxes will be eaten up by those hungry chasers/youtubers/tiktok/IG and whatever social media they’re opening on.
The price points right now will be the new resistance point when the price starts to dip and rise again for those people that bought in at the current prices. It’s just a matter of how much those psa 10s will be worth and how many more are graded at the end of the year or next year and so on. 153 is a ridiculously small number compared to the print run its had. I’d probably compare it to like a Neo Yanma to be frank.
eBay is flooded with boxes and booster cases of Evolutions right now and people are still willing to pay $400-$500 a box. Crazy times indeed but no way they go to $2k by Christmas, too much supply right now.
Yep… Everyone points to the easy statistic of "lOOk hOw MaNY BoXes arE Up oN eBaY!!’ but you must take into the account the amount that are constantly selling.
There were 87 boxes purchased in the last 24 hours. The last time we had this discussion, ~60 boxes had sold in the last 24 hours.
Demand is increasing, and supply is decreasing with every sale. Eventually, when the only people holding boxes paid $400-500 for them, they will not be happy selling them for that.
Couple that with $7,000 PSA 10 Chase cards + overseas prices + box openers, and we got ourselves a ballgame.
I think that’s pretty refreshing since the 95% of posts here are pretty optimistic, bombastic and hype fueled. I think that more grounded approach is a good balance to the overall posts in here.
Honestly everyone keeps talking about how many of these boxes were printed but they always ignore how many were OPENED. When people were stuck at home because of COVID quarantines a lot of people got bored and just started buying and cracking cheap booster boxes. It’s one of the reasons unbroken bonds shot up so much before the reprint. Plus if you look at how many cards from the set have been graded the set is obviously popular. If there were hundreds of these on ebay and hardly any were selling I would be worried but as someone above pointed out there’s dozens being sold daily. While I do think the Kanto Powers boxes will level off the price for awhile (with a possible short term retrace), with the 25th anniversary being right around the corner I think it will go up again sooner rather than later.
Managed to open a few boxes of Kanto Power Collection tonight. From my limited experience so far with the boxes, the print quality of the ultra rares is a bit better. Everything else was in rough shape.
My point is that with so much supply hitting box prices will go down. Just look at recent sold listings boxes are now closer to $400 than a week ago when they were $500, if people that were holding on to cases keep listing and Kanto Powers is out the prices will continue to fall there is a lot of evolutions available was my point. On the flip side to your look at how many are selling, look at how many new are being listed daily.
This is the first time I feel urged to sell stuff. I’m not particularly attached to evolutions and I can not understand the craze currently going on. I sold my box within an hour of listing it and I’m inclined to list my reverse charizard, too.
“I’ve seen all these people opening Pokemon boxes and making money! I remember doing this as a kid, it would be awesome to do again!”
“Crap, a 1st Edition box is way too expensive… let me see what’s next”
“Crap, a Shadowless box is way too expensive… let me see what’s next”
“Crap, an Unlimited box is way too expensive… let me see what’s next”
“Crap, a Base 2 box is way too expensive… let me see what’s next”
“Oh wow, I can open a box that looks pretty much the same and only costs a couple of hundred bucks, yes!”
I don’t know if it’s that easy. Might play a role yeah, but I have a feeling that my box will be listed by the buyer within a month or so. He seems to sell broken phones most of the time lol. I think the flippers and scalpers are cannibalizing themselves at this point.
In the UK Evolution boxes are going for between £400 and £500 still at auctions.
PSA 9 unlimited charizards are selling for around £3500- £4000
The large price retraces must be more prominent in the US as things haven’t gone down too much over here.
But then the market has always been tighter in the Uk, theres always been less supply over here and still lots of demand.
