Evolutions box is ~120 while its PSA 10 Charizard is $1500?

The latest UK auctions for psa 9 unl zards have been £2950 and £3200 so the UK has seen similar retraces.

Wow I was looking at ones which had finished in the last few days on my watch list.

Theres one which finished below £3k earlier today.
I do think auction end times have a small affect on the final sale price, it’s worth looking for mid day ending auctions for potential bargains.

IMO retraces are irrelevant if you got your PSA 9 unlimited zards for $200 2 years ago and your evolutions cases for $600 6 months ago lol.

Exactly, can’t seeing pricing dropping down to near retail. Will only retrace a tiny amount then probably go up when the 25th anniversary happens

I don’t understand anyone posting items for sale right now thinking they’re going to pull top dollar… Almost all attention is focused elsewhere for the last few days. Honestly, read the room.

Similarly, anyone spending a dime on advertising right now is just wasting money. It’s going to get completely washed out.

I would bet the retracing is directly related and very short term.

FOMO is often talked about from a buyers perspective but it is very real on a sellers end as well. People fear missing out on what could be all time highs. I know that term “all time high” will rattle some people and I’m not saying all Pokemon cards are at all time highs but I am saying some of the worst offenders I truly believe to be at or near all time highs. Basically if it was a 0.50 raw card 6 months ago and is a $300+ card in PSA 10 today that covers the cards I’m talking about. Many of those cards are/were 100% in a bubble. Even some mass produced holos I expect this to be the case.

I haven’t been paying attention recently. What’s causing prices to drop? They look pretty high to me.

When ultra prism was reprinted, they weren’t booster boxes and yet booster box prices dropped

The main thing most people are thinking about in the US right now is what is going to happen today.

Looks like boxes are sitting steady around $430 with the occasional outliers up around $500. Cases around $2700 on average.

Anyone know how these prices compare to other retraces in the hobby?

it’s not that bad at all, Base Charizard is half the price it was on october 22nd

I was expecting Evo Boxes to be like 250 now, I was wrong

I have one sealed Evolutions box left in my collection, I would absolutely NOT take no $500 dollars for it. Imagine popping that puppy out 20 years from now. It’s one of the best sets and that’s a fact. I had a nostalgic blast when it came out in 2016.

Oowee, priceless.

Same. I have a case and my return would already be insane, but I have 0 intentions of selling. The boxes will probably go for thousands long term.

Even at current levels, they barely sell for the price of most vintage packs for a whole booster box.

@missingno, Well said! Big reason I have yet to sell any of my CP6 boxes. I might let go of one of my evo boxes. Still debating on it though.

Any thoughts on the prerelease evolutions kit?

I have one and was wondering how much is it today if I plan on selling it!

Cheers all

They seem to be hovering around $2000aud so whatever that is in USD or your currency

Looks like boxes and cases are having some significant sales figures increase again. Perhaps correlated to the recent stock boom?

How are other cards doing that had a worse retrace?

It seems UK has limited stock vs rest of the US I presume, do not know if it was affected or not here. Last auction I saw sold for 480 pounds

that’s because evolutions was printed to the moon and back there’s a reason we just got a new evolutions product almost 5 years after release

And yet PSA 10 Charizards are selling for $7,300 and $6,000:
