I’ve had good luck selling out of the vault, so I don’t want to withdraw too early. I’ll look to possibly make a move at the end of May then depending on things start shaking out.
The fees are gross. You literally need to be above 1k to barely beat standard eBay fees. I can just sell the stuff myself off ebay to avoid them like before. It was nice while it lasted
Average rate for a small seller on eBay is above 13% for trading cards, so anything $1,000+ would be beneficial and anything $500-$999 would be equivalent to selling it on their account. It’s the <$500 and under <$100 that is especially nasty.
I thought the rate was 13.88% for a non store? Either way for me it doesn’t make sense. I have the low tier store thing which is like 12.8%
Plus when we hit 500$+ cards, it’s not too hard to move them on other platforms like Instagram (which is what I use). Probably easy on Facebook or whatever else people do
Makes sense. Looks like 13.25% for trading cards.
That’s a really good point. I try to stay off of those platforms, but I would probably sell more if I was integrated.
It does take a sage to navigate some of them. Hard to find people who will balance selling and collecting
Just received an email from eBay, and it mentions
You’ll receive advance notice of all these changes and have the option of withdrawing in-vault items at not cost, should you wish to do so, until the launch of PSA’s new vault experience.
Ebay Vault FAQ says the following:
What if I don’t want this change? Can I withdraw?
Yes, you can withdraw your items. Account holders with items in the vault can withdraw their inventory at no cost until the launch of PSA’s new vault experience. Coupons for free withdrawals will be automatically applied at checkout.
I’m probably going to continue using the service as long as the fees remain comparable with regular eBay for anything high value/niche. Easy inventory and shipping management, and offloading the risks associated with doing it myself are still too good to pass up. Will be selling the high value most liquid cards off platform now though.
I just laughed out loud in school, now everyones looking at me.
Hot take but 16% for someone to all the work for me? Sign me up. Unfortunately however I still think we’re years away from where we were with pwcc/ebay in 2021 with BIN listing. Overall I feel meh, still probably wont utilize the service.
Yes, but before it was 3% (and even as low as 1% through ZandG and Ketchumall) and someone did all the work for you. That’s why people are sad
Yes i fully understand that. I still did not/have not used the service because the ebay vault listings are pretty bad.
welp funs over i guess… i enjoyed selling like $5-20k cards paying no fees
the 1k-2500 bucket is the only one that has lower ebay fees coz once u get above 2500 u only pay like 2% normally with a store
Well…my weekend just opened up lol. I was planning on sending a bunch of higher value cards to the vault to capitalize on the 0% fees. Also, it’s not like i just purchased an insurance plan with CIS to insure said shipments to the vault either! Whomp whomp whaaaa.
I feel bad for the ebay vault centered pokemon consignment services too. That revenue stream just got Thanos snapped away.
The free vault thing was never going to last anyway. It’s the standard big tech model of subsidizing a service, getting you hooked and reliant on it, killing the competition then turning on the profit engine and making the service shitty.
Depending on your fee structure, you may still have a financial benefit to sell high-end cards through the vault.
Oh i agree, I just didn’t think it would jump right to a fee structure with no incentive to use it outside of saving on the time having to ship it yourself. They couldn’t do like 8% or 9%? I just don’t see this new Vault option being succesful for them.
