EBAY Shipping advice

If they aren’t combining they need to send two separate packages and pay postage for each

Personally, I will always give a seller the benefit of doubt - as that is what I would want in-return from a buyer! I would send the seller an eBay Message; just inform them that you received your package in the mail and realized postage was only $X whereas you spent $X. Ask the seller if there is any chance you could receive some form of compensation for this (leave it up to the seller to initially determine what they consider “fair compensation”). As mentioned earlier, don’t threaten with Negative / Neutral / Low DSR’s - just be polite and see what the seller does next to resolve the issue. Maybe the seller is new to selling Internationally and didn’t realize the shipping would cost so much less - so he charged you a lot and then forgot about the cost you paid (it happens).

Now, the next step is based upon how the seller reacts to this eBay Message… If he is willing to work with you on some type of compensation, GREAT! However, if he isn’t going to offer you anything and kind of gives you that whole “you knew” BS - 100% BLAST HIM with a Negative / Neutral and 1 DSR on Shipping Charges!

I can see both sides of the coin here… Normally, I will not ever argue over what I paid for shipping vs. what shipping actually cost - to be honest, I never really check. If the item plus shipping is within my budget, I’m a satisfied customer! However, I live within the U.S. - so I’m fortunate to not have to deal with International Shipping. If I saw the seller made $25.00 off me for “shipping” I would be PISSED! That’s totally unreasonable and unnecessary - no matter what. If you’re not willing to combine shipping, then don’t mail the two items together - you paid shipping twice, it’s only right that you receive two packages if the seller is going to play that game.

When you post, it’s usually logical, level-headed and mostly educational.

Today, you threw that out the window in favour of attitude and ridiculous rhetorical statement.

Did they sneak up on him? Dude, really?

Do you reimburse postage if the cost is higher than the listing? … I can’t even…

@ozenigma I know now he won auctions, they weren’t BIN’s. He made bids that he was prepared to pay on even if he only won one instead of two. So when he placed those bids looking at each card separate he was prepared to pay the full bid plus shipping individually. eBay sellers are not compelled by rule to combine shipping so it was an option from the start that he’d have to pay it all.

With 2. I was demonstrating it from the other side. Yeah it was a crazy comparison by design. At the end of the day all that matters is what you pay all in. Clearly OP was fine with the all in price because given the option to pay it or cancel it he chose to pay it.

In the end… should the seller reimburse some money… yeah probably. Do they have to? No. Should they suffer with negative or low feedback? Yeah if the OP wants to then he is fully within their rights to do so.

Being an eBay seller yourself, you’re seeing the issue with very greedy eyes.

Does the seller have to combine postage? No.

But if they charge two lots of postage, they HAVE to send separately.

This kind of shit on eBay is disgusting. Trying to cheat the system and profit where it shouldn’t exist is bullshit.

I don’t do it myself. I ship everything “free”. Meaning I just add it into the fee as obviously I am not losing money on it. (except some bad auctions)

Maybe I’m a bit cynical on the whole thing just seeing the shit I see. 10,000 transactions in a year and you come across all kinds of entitlement and eBay garbage. I occasionally have people win several items at auction… Then they message me before payment asking for their discount. Naturally I say shipping is free… I can’t discount it any further. They demand me to pass along the shipping discounts to them. They think since I am saving money compared to if multiple buyers won the items that all that savings should pass along to them. I guess I was extending that mentality of those buyers to this situational which isn’t nearly as applicable.

Just got this eBay Message and thought of you @gottaketchumall Remember you reversed this situation; saying a seller wouldn’t offer free shipping and then turn-around and expect the buyer to refund the cost of shipping? Well…

New message from: eBay Seller (996Purple Star)

Shipping was 19.15 . If you want to do the right thing and pay pal me the difference that would be apperciated. It is on it way.

Really??? Gotta admit, that’s a first right there! LOL

@oldskoolpokemon nothing surprises me anymore.

I’m just waiting in anticipation of when I see something like:

“While driving to the post office to ship your item I hit a deer. My deductible on my insurance is $1,000. If you were a decent human being you know what the right thing to do is. You have my paypal address.”
