I bought a raw Typhlosion ex for a binder from a seller last week - the pictures weren’t super clear, so I messaged and asked if there were any visible creases on the card - guy replies and says it’s in mint condition. Of course, I get the card today and there’s a pretty obvious crease, albeit small on the card. This conversation ensues … "
Obviously it’s a cheap card and I can eat the cost, but I’m pretty shocked at this response. Any advice for dealing with this?
Don’t worry as you did your due diligence in the matter, asking the appropriate questions and being reasonable. It seems like the seller is testy because his version of “mint” is different than yours (you are in the right here) and he doesn’t want to deal with returns. However, at this point the decision it is up to you…
You can, as you said yourself, “eat the cost” if the card isn’t too unreasonable and you want to keep it.
OR
You can request a refund and return the card as he stated he would accept.
Yeah, I agree with everyone else just to ignore and send it back for a refund, but I also feel like this response is so comically agressive that I wish I could leave negative feedback too
The part that gets me is the “free card holder, sleeve and padded envelope” if you’re an eBay seller this should be standard not some fancy bonus. What was his original plan? Put a raw card in an envelope and not expect a return?
obviously the seller is an asshole, so that’s him. Return it and I believe PayPal doesn’t return their fees, so he loses on that. Also…you know where he lives
Usually, buyers are being dicks most of the times, but this seller is extremely unprofessional. Just return for a full refund and don’t waste your time with him.
I wouldn’t even continue the message chain. Open the return case, once it’s settled I’d give negative feedback. Don’t be personal in the feedback, just stick with the objective issues so it’s less likely to be removed.
ill give you a tip with asking about items…be as too the point as you can be. eliminate any words like “visible” as in when you asked ‘do you see any visible creases…’ this opens the seller up to their determination of any damage, which may be missed or its just plainly they dont see it the same way. ‘are their any creases’ would be my question from experience. but either way, its not mint with a crease, return it
Lmao at “I gave you a free card holder and penny sleeve inside a padded envelope.”
You mean you did exactly what you are supposed to do when you ship a card? I guess you should be grateful that he didn’t ship the card in a piece of paper.
My assumption was that once the return/refund is complete, I can’t leave feedback (since it essentially reverses the transaction). But if I can, then great.
Thanks all for the advice - I didn’t respond to the message, but I opened up a return request (seller didn’t accept returns, so has to be approved by eBay first). Hopefully it goes smoothly.
