Recently had a buyer message me saying they never received their item 3 months after purchasing. I messaged them back saying that they have 60 days from the date of purchase to let me know if anything is wrong (eBayâs policy). They somehow go and open an item not received case with eBay so now I am forced to refund them. Luckily it was a relatively low dollar item, but it baffles me how long after the date of purchase buyers have to open a case.
Wait, how did they open that case?! I have a few low price packages incoming for 2+ months. Iâm not too worried, since I had three packages arrive last week that were incoming for 2.5 month, but still. If it somehow does get lost I thought I was screwed. How can that buyer open a case not received case through eBay despite it being 3 months. Have they changed their policy temporarily due to the pandemic? Or did the buyer made the item not received case through their credit card company linked to their PayPal, and eBay forwarded that request to you the seller?
Honestly I have no idea how they were able to open a case, as I thought that they had a maximum of 60 days to do so as per eBay policy. I am fairly sure that it was purely an eBay case (no CC company or anything like that involved). It may be like you said just a temporary change in eBay policy. I will look at the case later today and see if I can find anything out of the ordinary.
Iâm not 100% sure how long you can wait and still open up a case but from what i can see, my purchase history starts to get hazy and less options available after 3 months so maybe 3 months is max if not it may be unlimited (also only if you have not already left feedback i would guess) which is pretty ridiculous either way.
However i had used this option myself after ordering something from Korea but they could not ship it due to COVID, I had no contact about it from them personally and waited over 2 months to give them the benefit of the doubt. After checking with other sellers from Korea about the postage situation i decided to open a case (just to grab there attention) and ask them if they had been sent at all and they just instantly refunded me.
IIRC anything over a month when you try to open a case it tells you (the person opening the case) that you are no longer protected by ebays money back guarentee but you are free to open a case and try to work it out with the seller.
I Assume that this means you as the seller are not forced to refund them & that ebay wont inevitably step in and insta-refund them like they usually do.
This part is just my assumption though, I have never had it go that far before so i canât be sure but that was my understanding of it.
In my case i was not expecting to get a refund from the seller, I merely asked if they had sent it or if they could send it to me now and instead of replying they refunded me.
Lol. Do you think the seller accepts an offer of minus 40 GBP? Given the 39.89 GBP shipping fees, I basically get 0.11 cents along with whatâs left of what was in the distant past once a card.
Nothing about this listing makes sense. âPSA 10â and âNEWâ, but also used⌠Itâs like he copied a PSA 10 listing for his and added used to the end! Letâs not forget it couldnât be further from a 10.
