This guy messaged me last night right around when I had just sold the Alakazam in question off eBay and I wouldāve ignored regardless. Woke up to thisā¦
@qwachansey Thanks for reminding me to charge my phone.
As for the actual messages: if he would have offered some money in addition to his PSA-9 thin stamp for your PSA-9 thick stamp in his first message and actually mentioned the stamps I might have considered it, but what did he expect when someone receives a message: āhey, wanna trade my exact same PSA-9 for your PSA-9 card?ā⦠Not worth the time, risk, nor possibility at receiving a weaker 9 (or in this case, Thin instead of Thick stamp). Only if his Alakazam had cert number 42xxx6969 it might have been worth it. /s
Lol, didnāt expect to see me here while I was lurking. @zorloth, My apologies if it seemed I was trying to deceive you as I would never intentionally do so. I donāt deny itās garbage as itās one of the worst backs of a PSA 8 card Iāve seen/own. Recently went through some old PSA cards of mine and noticed I had this while also owning a PSA 10 one, so I thought Iād throw it up on ebay. Iāve revised it to contain āpoorly gradedā in the title.
I didnāt think it was deceptive at all. You had a clear photo of the back, which is exactly as you should. I was able to tell before I committed to purchasing, which makes it fairly portrayed, IMO.
Donāt shoot yourself in the foot like that - as an eBay seller myself I wouldnātā say poorly graded in the title. I would show clear front and back pictures as you have and make sure to tell the buyer this card was graded a PSA 8 and to please completely review the pictures, just like any other listing. IMO card will never sell with that in the title.
Yeah, I agree. Itās not dishonest to call it a PSA 8, because thatās what it is. Perhaps I shouldnāt have posted it in this thread ā didnāt intend it to shame the seller or anything; the back of the card was just kind of shocking to me lol.
Thanks for the advice. I revised it to what I think is a bit better now and added a few more pictures to show the back in all its glory, lol. Thanks again.
Zorloth, I understand completely. When I got the card out of my storage boxes I was shocked as well to see itās condition. It was one of the first PSA cards I bought 4 or so years ago and I didnāt have a clear understanding of how they graded cards. Now, after sending a good amount of my own cards to PSA I see a card like that and wonder how it could slip by the grader.
Not sure if this counts as āeBay garbage,ā but this thread is the closest fit I could find. This guy purchased a Neo Rev. Raikou holo off of eBay and is absolutely convinced itās fake (spoiler alert: itās clearly an authentic card, going solely by the pics he uploaded). Very frustrating to read the thread and how entirely uncritical of this person the other redditors areā¦
The guy says he opened a refund request with the seller. If anyone finds out this guyās eBay username, please make it publicā¦
EDIT: the light test photo he uploaded does look slightly off compared to my Neo holos, but Iām pretty sure itās because of the lightsource heās using.
I hate when people use the light shine through authentication and donāt know what theyāre looking for. The light verification is to check if the card has a blue/black middle layer. The middle layer isnāt thick enough to prevent a light on any card when itās pressed up against it, besides you can see the middle layer in his side picture. Which is why I say itās the dumbest authenticity check out there. You can litterally see if the card has a middle layer on the side, and people use the light check wrong all the time, and people who are faking cards arenāt skipping the middle layer on the fakes.
Yeah i can tell from those pictures itās a mixture of fake packs and real ones.
The real ones are most probably resealed down to him saying āsome are damaged, and some are really good.ā
There is a reason he is not disclosing the weights because the fake packs weigh like 16-17grams.
100% scammer pleading ignorance
Report the listing and hopefully it gets taken down before someone gets scammed.
