I went to my post office this morning and got my flat rate box and my customs form for international shipping! I also ordered all of my SS gifts today! I’m stoked already!!
This is my first time shipping internationally, if I have any questions, or need help with the customs form, who would be the person to ask around here? (My post office was not very helpful, it felt like they kinda rushed me out of there lol)
You have to declare the value of the items on the customs form. When shipping to Canada, anything over $20 can potentially be charged (but often times these lower value packages get processed without any additional fees). Once I had to pay an extra $15 on an item declared at $30
@zacheggers for simplicity just declare whatever you send at $5 and a gift. Call it “childrens toys” or something vague instead of “Graded Pokemon cards” or anything more specific like that. It will just create less potential questions or issues as PFM said with customs fees. You certainly don’t want anyone having to pay for your gift and in this case it is honestly a gift too, so you are in the clear.
If you are shipping to a country with more questionable postal services like Italy or something, just be sure to use a service that will definitely track it all the way to the destination. If you got an “easy” country like Canada just use first class mail international or if it is too heavy then go priority mail international and you should hopefully be in the $10-$25 range for shipping. It could be significantly more if you are shipping to the likes of Italy or more obscure countries.
FYI for those in the U.S. wanting to mail-out their Secret Santa Gift tomorrow (Wednesday). The Post Offices are going to be closed tomorrow (Wednesday) in-observance of the passing of our 41st President. They’ll resume normal hours on Thursday.
