all of these artworks are so blend imo. Nothing much happening in them, from gen 2 onwards the arts just feel more alive to me. This might be more of a reply to the unpopular opinions thread, but aye, I wont be doing this tierlist. I dont have that nostalgia hit with base set since I was not around then.

This was so difficult. I tried to rank them just on the artwork, but it’s hard as some cards you have more of a connection with, and some cards are just Magnemite

Not a huge fan of the poor CGI. Porygon gets a pass because it fits the Pokemon so well.
The best cards are Arita’s commons and uncommons!

I never realised how dull Base Set is before now. A lot of the artworks are very boring without the rest of the card to go with them, and that’s definitely not how I feel about modern cards.
Also I think I’ve discovered a love for Farfetch’d which I didn’t know I had.

S: Unique Artworks
A: Memborable, fun artwork. Love the backgrounds, love the Pokemon
B: Basically A tier but I like them just a little less
C: Great Holos that I like the Pokemon illustration themselves or the Pokemon plus the combo of the color of the background
D: Good trainers/Pokemon
E:Fine art, I like Kinebuchi’s Pokemon, but not as much as a majority of Arita’s.
F: Serious stinkers. Sugimori’s boring artwork (I love his Carddass set ok? Just don’t like 99% of his base set work) and Kinebuchi’s dull trainer cards. Don’t like these at all.
