Scream promos

I bought 5 of each Psyduck, Eevee and Rowlet at release. The Rowlets graded well for me and I got 0/5 PSA 10 on the Psyducks due to centering :skull:
A PSA 9 set is a really good option if you want the lower cost with the brand-new level condition for these. I bought 10 of the Pikachu and most graded PSA 10 for me. You had to actually go to the Munch exhibit in person to get these, one per person. So they are a lot harder to get than the other three. It will probably be an interesting auction to watch since the price is so variable right now

If you’re wondering why no Mimikyu, it’s because I only bought one

The Abareru-kun card is a bit of a sleeper. You had to win a lottery in Japan by submitting proof of purchase of packs and only 5000 were given out in total. It came with a printed info sheet, which I have. If anyone here wins it, I’ll mail them the sheet for free. The text on the card says “Tell a joke. If your opponent laughs, draw 3 cards.” The guy in the card is a comedian that hosts a Pokemon show in Japan. The artist that illustrated the card is the guy who does the sleepy pokemon artwork :arrow_right: HYOGONOSUKE's Sleepy Pokémon . I remember when the card came out, it was one of those things were people were trying to time the price to save a few dollars and I just bought it straight from ebay at $60 on release. If you’re buying the right kind of items, the entry amount shouldn’t really matter that much unless you’re buying in huge quantity. Obviously the auction isn’t over yet but it’s currently underperforming, the last sold was $400 on ebay auction 3 days ago.

info sheet

The Player’s Ceremony, now called Celebration Fanfare, is an amazing subset of cards all illustrated by Himeno. It has been released every year since 2018, players in Japan that collect enough points quality to receive it in the mail. 2018 is by far the rarest year because the point limit was so high. 2019 in comparison is more common but it’s still a limited release and 3-4 years old now. It’s also one of those newbacks that aren’t really guaranteed the 10 as you can see. Similar to the screams, I think the 9 is really the smart value purchase here.

The celebi came with ordering booster boxes of Jet Black Spirit (the horsey set). Honestly one of the best artwork in the whole TCG

The 2022 STAFF promo, I bought 4 copies from a staff member at London. Paid in pounds. This was the only 10 I graded. The copy I’m keeping went into a binder so this is the best of the 4 I bought. You’re looking at pop 53 in PSA 10 and pop 79 in PSA 9. It is NOT an easy grade. I think this is going to be one of those sales I’ll regret in a few years

I’m impressed that you didn’t knock over the camera completely during that one take with the box lol.

Here is an E4 members PSA 9 1st Edition Base Charizard. I’ve had a lot of these come through over the years, but this was graded during the original 90s boom!
Basically anytime there is a 0 cert, that card was graded during the original era.
Also the case is in great shape for being so old!

I will be quite surprised if that gets paid. Hopefully we can get an update on it in a few weeks.

That one really stood out! Last round I had a couple ooyama pikachus go above previous sales, one almost double and both were paid! I’ll let you know what happens with the poncho pika!

The July Auction Block just went live! There is a solid selection of modern prize cards and promos this round! Some that rarely go for auction!

A few items to start us off, the Original Gold Stars. :face_with_monocle:

These were only awarded at the 2000 Champion Road tournament in Japan. They are the rarest versions of these cards. They feature a gold stamp on the double white star symbol:

So do you mean these cards appeared in:

  1. Japanese Neo 1
  2. A separate promo release with the text in the bottom border
  3. Another promo release with the text in the bottom border and an additional gold stamp over the double white star?

I’ve heard these were limited to 1000 copies each so have been picking them up for a while. Do you how accurate this pop estimate is?

My source is Pokumon which details their release and the stamped Berries

Correct! The stamped versions appear the least in my experience, and are the coolest imo!

@hcd Yes that is the estimated number I’ve always heard for the cards, but I don’t marry myself to release numbers, I just treat them as an estimate.

Granted it is a subtle difference but isn’t every day one learns about a new old back promo.

That is super cool but impossible to see the gold stars in the pic. If it wasn’t for the 2000 in the text I never would have known the difference between this and the more common. I’m def bidding lol

Yeah if you click/zoom the images it’s more visible. They are definitely noticeable in person. I always look for them when I buy a collection.
