Do you think SECRET RARE Charizard price will go down??

But you didn’t have artificial demand with people like Deriums opening 100 boxes on YouTube back in the day.

Base, Jungle and Fossil may have had large print runs but a lot of the cards and product have been destroyed. Maybe 10% of what was printed remains in mint condition?

100 boxes is nothing but a drop in the ocean. There’s no way a single individual can create artificial demand in such a large market. Videos like Derium’s if anything have a net positive effect on demand. How many extra packs were sold because kids watch his videos?

But the second point you make, I’m totally in agreement with. Way too many people are sitting on sealed product, submitting new cards to psa, etc.

Well, 100 boxes in one video.

Most card stores back in the day probably didn’t sell more than 100 boxes of a single set in a month lol. At the very least the majority of product would be sold at Toys R’ US and department stores.

I absolutely agree with this. I myself when getting back into the hobby first turned to WOTC due to childhood nostalgia and bought a few cards that held value to me. There are still cards I value from WOTC era that I want but will collect through time if I can achieve it. If not it’s fine as well. Being a hobby collector I collect what interests me without worrying about financial gain. That’s why I collect whatever cards I like no matter when they were printed. Shining legends has my current interest. Definitly love the set right now and want to collect them graded to preserve and enjoy for years to come

Well its starting to happen now… believe the release of the new shiny charizard is partly to do with it… was watching pricing on tcgplayer (they have litterally every cards values non graded ofc)… and the rainbow zard was 300$+ a few days ago… checked today because ive been interested in obtaining one… and its value now says 224$… ofc will take a few weeks/months for the market to show that… as theres still demand. but demand will drop once more hidden fates packs hit stores, (litterally everywheres been sold out since release) and more people can get ahold of the new shiny version… i know this is an old post but came across it and figured id give ya guys an update on the rainbow zard… down almost 100$ overnight lol…
Thats not to say in the long long term the card wont rise in value… but as of the short term (next few years) it appears to be starting to come down in price…

hopefully drops a lil more so i can get one in psa10 to add to my collection…

and i agree very well said jayce. in another 20 years when these kids all are like many of us now are… the wotc base and old cards will likely be well out of reach for most… and ofc they will want the cards that are nostalgia for them… as the wotc base etc are for us now…

Wow that’s a great point, I’m one of the old fashionedest collector’s you’ll meet (still enjoy new stuff too though) and even I have to admit that’s really well said.

While you necro’d a really old thread your point is solid; they were selling for 20/30%+ before hidden fates and price been dropping drastically.
We are talking about the exact same artwork but Hidden Fates one is; in most of the opinions i heard, way more beauty. (I hate rainbow rares; and i love hidden fates zard )
