Do you prefer modern, or vintage artwork?

What artstyle do you like best?

I included three modern cards from my collection from different era´s, and three vintage cards. These can act as some examples.

Yeah, kind of did that on purpose. XY is a bit of a difficult one, because it isn´t modern or vintage, but the Full Arts are modernish, and the Evolutions holo´s (obviously) like vintage.

In general vintage, but there are banger artworks in both. I think it more comes down to the artist. For example, Komiya spans all eras with incredible cards. Shinji Kanda is newer but all cards are awesome from full arts to commons.

i’m feeling not the same but at the very least similarly. besides the 5ban exceptions, i don’t think modern artwork is universally worse than vintage artwork. but in my opinion a modern half art card is always worse than a vintage card with the same art. the proportions of the artbox vs the border vs the text areas, the embellishments around the artbox/evolution box/name/etc, the color choices/saturation/texturing of the backgrounds (and the yellow borders) are just not as pleasing to me.

Vintage Primeape is the best, especially on modern cards.

technically the modern card with the vintage artwork is more modern than the vintage cards with the vintage artwork but its still more vintage than the modern card with the modern artwork

At one point, when opening vintage was still a thing, I had to choose between a Gym Heroes and a Challenge box, and chose the Challenge box because I love the Venusaur. But this Victreebel is awesome as well.

Depends on the card to be honest not necessarily the era for me. The artist in question is more important imo.

Just too much awesomeness inside it. But I guess Gym Heroes kind of slipped my mind because of that.
