Does anybody know what the different numbers on the front (bottom right) of these Japanese team rocket booster packs mean/signify?
The one I own is the one with the 300 on it, the one saying 291 is from ebay. From clicking on several different ebay listings, it seems the majority of them are the 291 one rather than the 300. Thanks!
it should be the MSRP in yen, but i’m not sure if it affects the contents of the pack. i think that it’s just a variation.
You can even have the 291 yen packs with a 300 yen sticker covering the 291 yen.
Has something to do with tax change in Japan at the end of the 90’s, no difference in content of the packs though.
Just a funny thing, also doesn’t affect the price of the packs.
This is correct. I believe a couple other sets have the same types of 291 and 300 yen variations. Base set definitely does, and I believe Jungle as well.
The 291 yen packs were from an earlier print run than the 300 yen packs.
