Not sure how much crossover there is between diecast cars (think Hot Wheels and Matchbox) and Pokemon, but the cars are my primary hobby. I’ve got over 2000 pieces in that collection, most of which are basic Hot Wheels and Matchbox types of vehicles, but I have a good number of high end models and larger scales as well.
There’s way too much to show everything with pictures, but here are some cars I’ve added in the past couple of months.
My true addiction is cars, real ones and die cast. I’m particular to Honda’s but love other makes too. Heres my little car shrine, Couple Indy 500 collectables, some Dale Earnhardt stuff, model cars I built, and a couple hot wheels. It’s a shame the real cars take up so much space! I’ve got 6 currently, a 91 CRX Si, 91 Integra, 96 Integra, 95 Nissan 240sx(on jackstands), 72 Monte Carlo, and my daily 17 Civic Si. I do a lot of custom work on these cars, I would love to do a Pokemon themed build someday.
I always loved the 1/43 cars so I collected complete sets of them on cards with chads in place (along with those with trading cards included). This was no easy chore years ago without Internet.
They made so much of that stuff in the '90s, at least in 1/64. NASCAR was huge. I can’t go to a flea market without seeing several vendors with tubs full of it. 1/43 is less common but still easy enough to find.
I’ve got years worth of pictures that seem to be randomly organized in this imgur post: imgur.com/a/OuMZM
I also have a video on YouTube going through my office/hobby room recently. You can see the beginnings of the Pokemon card stuff in the background of a few shots
There was a very large diecast collectible store in the middle of nowhere where I grew up run by this older guy. My dad would take us to just look around and occasionally he gave us free stuff. I bought a bunch of sealed hotwheels back then (around 2002ish) and they are just in a box somewhere now. I feel like those in particular are mostly worthless today though because the supply is much larger than the pool of serious collectors that want them
This is mostly true, but there are still some that are worth a bit. Particularly, anything Ferrari from back then ought to be worth at least a couple of bucks if not more.
I collected with my dad in the early 2000s, we were one of those people who would dig the whole bin at the store for treasure hunts. I’ll have to ask if he still has them in storage
I just received the latest Matchbox Lotus Exige in the mail today so I’m caught up with every release. Sometimes with diecast it’s easier to complete a “species” than with cards
