So i ended up grading a shadowless charizard card with psa. It was really off center and got graded a 9oc (off center). Its the only shadowless 9 with a qulifier. Theres nothing to compare it to and even auction places dont know what to value it. I wanted to discuss with people that may have some insight. Thanks ya’ll!
Welcome! I’m the one that invited you over from ebay.
Super special card. I realize some people would prefer a regular one but having one that’s different is cool too.
Like we talked about, I’d estimate it for a little more than a regular 9. 2k-2.2k or something.
I’m sure there’s plenty of other people that have more experience in guessing a fair price for this.
Hey hey! Yea i would love some insight from as many people as possible. Ive heard numbers all over the place so finding a steady average would be nice.
I was in a similar boat as you a few weeks ago with an OC grading from PSA. It was my first qualifier and wasn’t sure how to proceed. I was told that collectors typically offer 10% on top of the current going price. I still haven’t decided if I wanted to part with my OC as these were my first and contemplating on starting some “error” card collection.
It is definitely a unique type of grade. Theres about 340 psa 9 shadowless zards and 1 with a qualifier. So i have no clue on what to really do with it. Thanks for that info homie!
Well your auction ended at a little over $2000 right?..
Lol soooo does that not help?
It does help lol it was on ebay for a week, doubt many ppl even noticed it. So i want some insight from the community.
Trust me, people noticed it.
I have the only Dark Charizard PSA OC but it isn’t for sale so that won’t help with an evaluation.
I won the only PSA OC Unlimited Charizard for around $90 at auction a few months ago. The order got cancelled by the seller and he lied about losing it. Now it’s listed for $5000 or best offer. I told him nobody would offer even 20% of that number and offered him a generous $250 only to be auto-declined.
For your card I must say, mint 9 was quite generous. The edge wear on the back is like no 9 in my collection. I believe your card was a PSA 7 before being changed to PSA 9 (OC) right? I agree with swolepoke, your auction is the best data you’ll ever have, assuming it’s real data. It looks like you had one or two potential bidders at over $1k. Personally I want the card and I was aware of it before you listed it on Ebay but I’m not paying current PSA 9 price so I’ll save you the disappointing offer and keep quiet. You can always list it as a best offer with a high starting price and see what comes in over the course of a month or so if you’re concerned about exposure.
That auction is the best data available, 2k looks and sounds about right
OC is not gonna be everyone’s cup of tea. Personally, I’d be content with a 2k+ offer, as that is already valued at a slight premium over the regular card. Of course, sellers and buyers both have to align on prices for any exchange to happen. Maybe there will be someone who comes around and pays something ridiculous, but the odds are against you probably.
I have to agree with @zap2 here.
If I were you I’d hold the card for a little while until the 9s go back to the $2500 range or so and you might get $3000+ for your card. In the current market, I’d be surprised you get much more than $2000 for the card.
I personally wouldn’t pay PSA 9 money or more, but I understand there’s a niche market for these and there’s probably at least a handful of buyers willing to pay 10-30% premium for it. Doing a best offer listing seems like the way to go. Something like $4999.99 and see how much people are offering over the course of a couple months.
By the way, I also noticed your listing is US only so you’re limiting your buyer pool tbh. Especially on a one of a kind item like that you want to reach as many possible buyers as possible. If an international collector MUST have it, I’m sure they’ll even pay GSP shipping/import fees if they have to.
Thanks everyone. I figured a crazy number for this would be like 5k. Im gonna set it up with a bigger price obo. I have no knowledge of what this can go for. I know its not a miscut or anything but its the only one. So basing it on an ig post and a week on ebay isnt something i wanted to do. This place seems to be the best place and all the info you guys gave me is helpful. I think people on here would know way better then myself.
Honestly, an auction is the best way to gauge its price.
For 1 of 1 items, the price is how much someone is willing to pay at the end of the day.
For $5k and a little more, I would rather get 3 x PSA 9 Shadowless Charizards than one with a qualifier, but that’s just me. Maybe someone is willing to pay more than $2k for it. Best of luck
Yea this deff appeals to a certain type of collector. Thanks tho! Gonna figure out what to do with it lol
I thought the auction end price was fair… also I think people are more likely to pay more for more “aesthetic” OC cards, like ones with just a clear shift in one direction. (Just my personal opinion, though.)
Thanks homie. Safe to say 2k is pretty fair. Might hold onto but we’ll see. Thanks ya’ll!
@pokemontcgcheese , I know this is over a year since your post but I was curious if I could get an update? I just came across an OC shadowless Charizard and am thinking of grading it.
I sold it for about $2200 on ebay last year some time. I got one wild offer of $3300 and turned it down. I think its still pop 1 as well. I would go for it! I saw at least half a dozen oc zards after i posted that and either the ppl never graded em or they didnt get the oc
