@garyis2000, I’m sorry, but you really need to understand what is really going on in Venezuela before pretending like social safety nets are causing the problems.
From our Nevada governor a half hour ago…
Governor Steve Sisolak has directed all Nevadans to stay home and for all nonessential businesses to close to the public for 30 days. All gaming machines, devices, tables, games, and any equipment related to gaming activity will be shut down effective midnight tonight. These COVID-19 Risk Mitigation measures will be fully effective as of noon March 18:
-
All Nevadans must ensure that six feet of social distancing per person for non-family members is maintained.
-
Only essential services should remain open – such as fire, police, transit, and health care services, in addition to businesses that provide food, shelter, or social services for disadvantaged populations.
-
Non-essential services such as beauty shops, barber shops, and nail, tanning, and waxing salons should close until further notice.
-
Only essential businesses should remain open such as, pharmacies, grocery stores, drug and convenience stores, banks and financial institutions, hardware stores, and gas stations. Grocery stores are asked to consider special hours for the vulnerable populations.
-
All gatherings should be postponed or canceled.
-
Faith leaders are urged to find ways to deliver to your congregation without bringing them together in person.
-
Charitable food distribution sites, including the meals being distributed to our students in wake of the school closings, along with grocery stores should remain fully open and operational. Food services for healthcare facilities and other essential facilities should remain open. Any buffet or food stations used in charitable food distribution settings should transition to boxed meals or served through gloved staff members or volunteers.
-
Restaurants throughout Nevada, in addition to pubs, wineries, bars, and breweries that include meals provided by a full kitchen should be reduced to serving food only in a drive-thru, take-out or delivery capacity. No dine-in at food establishments should be allowed until further notice. This also includes food courts, coffee shops, catered events, clubs, bowling alleys, and other similar venues in which people congregate for the consumption of food or beverages.
-
Pubs, wineries, bars, and breweries that do not include meals provided by a full kitchen must close.

AUD$ has dropped over 10% in 2 weeks. Might be time to sell my hobby
Thinking the same as well. Making more money on the dropping dollar than the asset itself.
I feel incredibly fortunate to be in a position/career where I’m still needed. I have many friends and family members who have already lost their jobs due to the closures in my state. This is crippling economies around the world.
Yet, I’m still currently working (overworked). I don’t mind, but I’m feeling exhausted.
I want them to close the store, but I gonna pay the bill.
So at my work the store has had a problem for the last 4 or 5 months with being quite severely overstocked with computer monitors, and legitimately having difficulty storing them all.
This has more or less done a complete 180 in the last 2 days. So many people are buying monitors, mice and keyboards because they are about to be or are being asked to work from home. Probably every 2nd order I am getting from online is for a combination of these.
All the store has left now are a couple 27 inch curved monitors and some massive 32/34 inch monitors.
I went to grocery store yesterday and they had everything in else in stock but there weren’t much of any meat left. Literally no chicken at all. Hand soap was all sold out except one kind that looked like it had been brought over from deep corner of a warehouse. I had to buy that because I was genuinely running out of hand soap. And of course hand sanitizer is nowhere to be seen. They had toilet paper though! The cheapest ones were sold out but there were other options. Same with eggs, bigger egg packages were sold out but there were lots of those left that have like 6 eggs in them. Pasta and noodle section had some empty slots but not fully empty so you could still get some, same with tomato sauces, you could see people had bought a lot of those but there were still various options left. So overall I don’t think the situation is that bad with availability. Meat is the only thing that seems to be a bit of an issue but even for that you could find at least something if you aren’t limited.
When it comes to work, they still haven’t directly put us to work from home even though the country’s government said the public section should order everyone to work from home that has possibility to do that. I work at my city’s city hall so it’s a bit weird we haven’t received an order in my office. I have a VPN finally installed though so I could work from home if the order comes.
Look I’m normally a very light hearted guy and try to bring some humor to bad situations to soften the blow but now things have finally become serious for me…
My 3 boys have been to america and I just found out they wont be coming home and are stuck there indefinitely whilst this virus is at large.
I’m from the UK and I’ve lost contact with them so if any one can help me please message me!
Their names are Charizard , Charizard base set 2 with holo swirl and the youngest is called Dark charizard who is recognisable by his small whitening at the top right corner.
Is this life punishing me for keeping my boys locked in a cabinet…
Just spoke to Barney at Ludkins, they will be issuing a statement soon regarding this.
@milhouse, ahh my brother and i are scrambling to buy monitors because we have to work from home. amazon can’t deliver quickly and best buy charges like 300% market price.
Is that a markup since the virus threat hit. That’s actually illegal in the United States.
no, best buy has always been super expensive, at least in southern california. i guess the cost of brick and mortar overhead can’t compete with amazon or ebay. like $20-30 for an hdmi cable or $389 for the same monitor that is on amazon for $175.
Not really illegal if Best Buy ALWAYS charges 300% market price.
Physical stores are always a ripoff.
Company i work for sent an email today making permanent staff work from home instead of in the office which i was happy about until i got a second email 5 minutes later advising me that i had to tell the 20ish casual staff that i manage that they would not be required in the coming months. Lots of tears and uncertainty but we did offer them 4 weeks worth of pay instead of the 0 we would legally have to provide. Crazy times all, strap in and lets go for a ride.

This is imo a great thing for a business to do that you offer pay. My co-worker was forced to take holidays from work because schools are closed now and her kids are at home and can’t go without supervising. She would have been home without salary for a month if she didn’t take holidays. By taking holidays she is going to get her pay. If she didn’t do that she would get no money and would have to take care of kids without it which is crazy to me. Of course she could work from home but she said with her kids it’s quite difficult to focus on work when they are around.
I work in public field so we are forced to follow what our agreements say no matter what…
Just had emails from distributors saying all (European) Konami releases have been postponed for the foreseeable future.
Wonder how long before Pokemon / US printing will be affected.
Magic madhouse one of the biggest pokemon/magic sellers in the uk has released a statement saying they are now running on a skeleton crew so many orders will likely be delayed until further notice

Company I work for has more or less given 0 shifts to casuals, at my store, from the start of April onwards. Only myself and 1 other casual have shifts for the first 2 weeks of the month and the rest all have 0. Sad.
