I do like the stamp box itself, but it seemed like overkill for what everyone really wanted – the cards and the postage stamps. Those could easily have been put into a very nice hardback portfolio, a configuration that Japan Post has used many times for commemoratives.
The only reason for the box was to accommodate the Family deck, and nobody wanted the Family deck. (It’s obvious that for Japan Post to secure the license for the stamps and cards, they were required to purchase tens of thousands of Family decks that the Pokemon Company wanted to get rid of.)
I should add that I actually like the Family deck. But I realize I’m in the minority, LOL.
