Collect-A-Con Orlando Info Feb. 26th & 27th

I went to Collect-A-Con on Saturday and had a great day. Here are some pictures I wanted to share:

Giant Pikachu welcomed everyone into the hall.
First time going to the Orlando convention center. The place is massive btw.

It’s the convention floor. Lots of card enthusiasts here.

Hey everybody, it’s Jason Paige - singer of the original Pokemon theme song. He kicked ass during his performance, lots of energy. I was signing along too. He thanked me for bringing cash, and told me to tell @trainofthought “Hi”.

Shoutout to E4 Discord. I think I brought the perfect card for him to sign. Gonna hold onto this one.

I think I found the two most valuable cards at the convention. Unfortunately I was 4 to 5 digits short in my bank account to be able to purchase. Someone else had that that super ballin Tom Brady Rookie Contender as well.

I also met @garyis2000. He was at a booth with his wife and daughter. I stopped by and chatted for a couple of minutes.
I didn’t get a picture, but I got a picture of a picture. Apparently Gary and Master P are co-founders of a new company. Way to go!

No shortage of sealed vintage:

Obligatory Furry. I thought the backpack was pretty wild.

Got to see Vanilla Ice perform the Ninja Rap with the Ninja Turtles. A childhood dream fulfilled. He was definitely cool as ice.
“Drop that Zero and Get with a Hero”.

No biggie, just a dozen or so sealed boxes for sale.

Some pickups from the con. I’ve wanted a Treecko gold star for a while in any condition, and I found a beat up one for a great price.
Also some waifu’s, some base set cards and random promos I like. All fun binder stuff. Stoked I just happened to be around during 2 MZ promo handouts.

Hope to see you there next year!

I’ve attended more than 100 events, mostly as an exhibitor. The best advice I can offer first-timers is a) bring bottled water, as dehydration is a very real risk, and b) set aside money to ensure you have enough for your transportation home. Oh, and of course, have a great time!

Looks like a lot of fun! Hopefully I can attend one in my area. And the bottle water advice is real! That is definitely something you realize after your first couple events.

For anyone who missed it live, the box breaks from this event were posted. Haven’t watched all of it, but always exciting to see:

Very Cool Drew, i really enjoy the card you chose to get signed
hope you had a good time.

Even better he pulled me the true chase card from the set. A full holo Bigfoot!

Jason Paige pulled me a Beta Doppelganger too. Excited to get the grades back. Heritage just emailed me this morning asking which 3 I wanted to grade as I had bought 2 MZ packs so I went with Beta Vesuvan Doppelganger, Beta Channel, and MZ Bigfoot KS.

I had a blast at this convention! It was really cool getting to meet and trade with other collectors.
Here are some cards I managed to pick up through trading, huge thank you to @oldskoolpokemon for the 1st Edition Base Holo’s. That trade was MASSIVE for my set goal!

Next up, my friend pointed out a sealed Pokemon Center (WoTC Black Star #40) for a fantastic price so I was able to trade for that. I’m sorry sealed collectors, I opened it up as soon as I got back to my hotel. Then I got this Gym Heroes Brock signed by the voice of Brock himself, Eric Stuart.
A highlight of the event was Jason Paige. He was so energetic and enthusiastic, running around singing and giving high fives to everyone. He seems to be doing a great job being an ambassador for the hobby and its really cool to see him get so much recognition. He was really excited to sign my 2BA Master CD because its one of (if not the only place) that Pokemon actually credited his name. He was so excited he even added an additional signature to the inside where his name was printed lol
Overall I felt the event was a massive success for attendees and I really hope Collect-A-Con makes its way back to FL!

Very nice cards, @howleatthemoon. I also started buying/collecting PSA 8 1st Ed Base holos, they seem underrated to me. Much cheaper than the 9s and very little conditional differences at times. I’m almost halfway through building the holo set, think it will take me some years yet but it’s fun to collect them. Definitely some nice rare looking cards in there too.

Thanks, @jabby, and my thoughts exactly in regards to the 8’s! The condition of them is great for the price, glad we agree.

I was frequenting the water fountains for sure  . What a great experience, my friends and I went in not really knowing what to expect but we were blown away. Between the convention, the people, and fun nights at the hotel it was a weekend ill never forget, and will definitely be going to more.

Was not expecting to see stuff like this in person

Got an unweighed base pack from a trusted seller which was a collection goal of mine, and great deals on some cards

Besides being 3 for 3 on my 1st base pulls (Charizard, Venusaur, and Zapdos) and my packs containing monsters like Dark Magician, Mox Pearl, and full Holo KickStarter Bigfoot, I was mostly impressed by the enthusiasm of the attendees that only seems to increase con to con.

One thing I got that I’ll keep forever is my “Holo” Badge. Sadly, only the All Access badges were Holo.

That badge does look pretty cool!
