Chinese Mew - Possible Scandal?

Is it just me or does this seem like it has room to be another scandal. Either with good fakes or pokemon actually printing more than the 1510 said to be circulating. I read somewhere the cards are numbered but that isn’t true. They are just limited. Given how good fakes are AND they are Chinese, I’m really skeptical about this card in the market. Although not often, they have been popping up on ebay quite often and I just can’t help but wonder if there is some risk here by collecting one of these exclusive cards.

The texturing on these is insane, and texturing in general has been the one thing Chinese fakes have struggled to replicate.

I think it may seem like there are lots on the market because I would guess that a larrrrge majority of the people getting these for free, are choosing to cash out for 10k usd rather than keeping the card they may not care about. Couple that with the fact they’ve like doubled since the first sales, theres also a good reason for those early buyers to be selling…

tldr: no scandal, just lots of reasons to be selling this card right now

I can see like 12 listings on ebay. 1510 is still a pretty big number

Is there a picture for those out of the know which chinese mew this is?

If you buy raw, be sure to ask for the original envelope and packaging.
If you only buy PSA and CGC grades, at least they will refund you if they turn out to be fake in the future, right?

Also everything below 7k usd raw if in nm condition probably is fake.

I mean, scandal/manipulation for sure, but not in the way you’re thinking. Due to middle mans etc as the big buyers in the hobby, most of these will go through their hands and cause the price to be anything but organic. The original window of 3.5k is probably long gone right now.

All 1510 have not been released yet. They will be released in 4 month intervals. The first batch of 377 have been released. I may be wrong though but thats what I read. And yea 12 listed even if the first 377 that were released is still pretty normal. Total way more have been listed and sold.

This page named “pokecolorofficial” has already listed more than 15 or so. It seems they have a huge stock of them. With no " ebay authenticity guarantee" on any of their sales. Which is weird since theyre all selling over 5k each. On some of “pokecolorofficial” graded mews, when you scan the psa QR code, it seems to not be the same card. Different marks and dinks in different places. It might be the High RES Scans playing tricks on me but me and a couple friends but we had a tough time determining if they were the same cards. I can usually tell instantly from the centering to some unique marks if its the same card but with “pokecolorofficial” cards we found ourselves struggling on at least 4 of their listings to determine if the scans match. Im not saying that they are fake or scamming. Im just stating I have never struggled matching the ebay pic to the psa scan pic, ever. Very new experience to me. I think it might be the different scanners used.

I may be mistaken but I believe these are a big Chinese consignment account, which would explain why they have so many.

This is China’s largest TCG consignment auction service. They are known to aggressively shill their own listings. If you have been finding scans that do not match the certs, please add them with evidence!

Yes, Pokecolor in China do almost everything. They have a physical store, PSA official dealer, CGC official dealer, official partnership with eBay, the biggest auction house on the Chinese auction platform, selling their own product such as graded guard, etc.

Do you have any evidence that they shill bind on their own cards? I have never bid auction of on their Ebay, but on the Chinese auction platform I don’t think they do that. There is a fee to participate in the auction and you pay it in advance every time you bid on an item, so if you want to participate in the auction on two cards, you pay twice, the minimum most of the time is 200 rmb ($27.90) if you win and don’t pay you lose that money, the platform takes a portion, and the other goes to the seller. The seller then gives a portion to their customer.
So the shill bidding incentive is very risky if you win.
That being said it could very well be other people doing shill bidding on their Ebay.

I don’t know about shill bidding, but I won two auctions this year.

The first time, the seller changed my real name by my username on eBay. Luckily, my cards still arrived and I was able to find my purchase with the help of Ship My Cards.

The second time, I won a 171/151 Pikachu Psyduck, but I never received the package. The seller sent me a suspicious tracking number from an unknown company. I got a refund after over 40 days in transit, but I won’t be buying from them again.

Too many dishonest sellers with bad and weird practices.

I will go back to my ended items on my watch list and get all the pictures soon. I would like to see everyones opinion on it

if they do shill they certainly suck at it :rofl:or maybe they only shill obvious stuffs like ponchos, maybe those himenos etc

All the corners dont match. Like I said I am not saying they are scamming or anything it just threw me off. White dinks in one picture and not shown in the other. It has to be the different high res scanners. There are more that were sold that were off. Also review the text and numbers. I inspected it more and realized its the same card on a few of them but it took me some time.

I finally got one from poke color, be careful if anyone is buying one of these. most suffer from horz print lines. going to go CGC in hopes of the fake 10 lol

also now that I have the card in hand, the stamps and texture people mentioned would be very difficult to replication fakes for, so maybe not as bad as I thought for fakes
