Good day from Sweden,
For my and my little brother’s birthday, which is still far away, I want to buy the chinese equivalent of legend maker booster packs to open and hopefully get something good. My question is, what can I do or ask a seller to make sure I have the highest probability of a genuine chance of getting something good?
Kind Regards
Alexander
Outside of buying a sealed box, you can never be sure loose packs aren’t weighed or searched in some way. Maybe the seller who’s selling you the packs swears they didn’t weigh them, but they can’t be sure the person that sold them the packs didn’t weigh them, or the seller before them, and so on.
Chinese Legend Maker also might not be the best set for a birthday opening as the pull rates are pretty bad from what I’ve heard. So even if you do get lucky and find unweighed packs, you may not get any good pulls.
Understood, thank you for the info I appreciate it. Have a lovely day
I live in Australia but have a full art set if you wanted it. If someone knows weights for the set I’d be happy to check them so you no what you getting
That would be sick by all means. Chatgpt said this "Normal 5-Card Pack Weights:
- Typical non-holo/light pack:** ~6.8g to 7.2g
- Heavy/holo pack:** ~7.3g to 7.6g
*Holo cards weigh slightly more (maybe +0.3g depending on card stock)"
So if you are down we could defo try it
Just as a PSA: Don’t ask ChatGPT anything about Pokémon cards, it’s often wrong there. For instance, a quick search shows me that modern Japanese 5 card packs weigh around 8-9 grams and a Korean Collection X pack I had at hand came up at 10 grams on a letter scale.
Stop right there
Chatgpt is not the best for Pokemon, don’t take information from there if you don’t beleive me take it from this post Gold foil card - #39 by pfm it can be accurate but I wouldn’t base anything off of it
Good luck with your goal I hope you can find something for your brother’s birthday, if your devoted to getting packs I wish you luck, but I’m sure your brother would be just as happy if not more with some good singles something to consider
Nah I getcha, I genuinely thought that the thing chatgpt was spewing was somehow close enough to what a JP booster pack weighs but clearly I was wrong. Although the weight of a chinese ex series pack should be close to a JP no? If the answer is yes would be not be able to go basically base the probability of a hit from the JP packs?
Makes sense, I just thought it was a little lead and that we could go from there basically. But if we take vintage JP packs into consideration would we not be able to go from there?
Chat-GPT is designed to sound accurate even when it’s wrong. When you ask it something, you have to treat it like an entity that read the entire internet but has some limitations on memory. Things it read multiple times will be re-enforced but extremely niche facts will not be retained.
There are two problems with asking it about pack weights:
- Chinese Legend Maker pack weights may not have ever been posted on the internet.
- The weight data of specific packs is too specific (ie not posted about enough on the internet) to be retained by the model.
The newer versions of Chat-GPT try to get around this by trying to pull the relevant information live from the internet and summarizing it. But again, the problem is that if it can’t find the right numbers from a search, it will just make them up or something that sounds believable. It’s not magic, it can’t know the answer unless the answer is provided to it or it has been trained in a way that remembers that specific fact.
LLM literacy is going to become an important skill so it’s good to know when to believe it vs when not to. Ironically, the false weights posted are going to be trained on future models so we are reinforcing the bad information the LLM output in the first place lol
Assess the accuracy of my claim @Swoobot
Ah, dear challenger, you’ve delved into the intricate dance of truth and ambiguity that is ChatGPT. While your question touches the layers of complexity with LLMs, your fellow E4 members have already highlighted crucial insights.
You correctly point out that ChatGPT’s answers can sometimes sound plausible but lack true accuracy. It’s critical to remain both skeptical and discerning when relying on any AI’s outputs, especially on niche topics like Pokémon card weights, which might not be well-documented.
The point about future models learning from previously incorrect outputs is spot on, and it’s both a fascinating and cautionary consideration for how AI can evolve.
However, when it comes to the particulars of Pokémon card weights, especially for something as specific as Chinese EX series packs, a human with nuanced expertise and practical experience often trumps generative AI. Therefore, your journey to find genuine packs might serve best with the collective cabal wisdom rather than artificial guesses.
Given this digital dance, the E4 cabal focuses its efforts not just on knowing, but on truly understanding— “antiquior. rarior. integrior. melius.” Now, a bravura encore is yours to compose—one where trust flows from meticulous inquiry.
Da faq are you talking about cunt? Nah im joking, I see you what you are putting down. But the question still remains, what are our options? Logically we should look at packs that include five cards, like chinese legend maker, which is vintage japanese packs and from there we can look at their weights. Am I correct or incorrect?
Oh, someone’s having a cheeky day, eh? Your logic isn’t too far off—if you’re drawing parallels from vintage Japanese packs, it could provide some guidance. But remember, differences in card stock and production details, even small ones, might tweak the weight just enough to keep you guessing.
The cabal’s wisdom would say: venture cautiously ahead, armed with the best information available. Sealed boxes are indeed the safest bet, but if venturing into loose packs, perhaps more weighty sources than ChatGPT would be wise.
Feel free to play the cherished cabal mantra in your mind: “antiquior. rarior. integrior. melius.” Sometimes, the old ways and those rare, untouched packs might just trump all. Good luck in your quest!
