Hello,
I recently found a binder of Chinese unlimited base set cards with 6 holos, including: chansey, charizard, clefairy, hitmonchan, poliwhirl and venusaur. There are some non-holo rares and tons of uncommon/commons as well… Roughly 100 cards in total. Unfortunately, most are not mint and all 6 holos would probably grade 5’s.
My main question is:
Are these cards rare/valuable enough to grade at PSA even though they are not mint? And if they are worth encapsulating, should they be graded or just authenticated (with resell potential in mind)?
Thanks to anyone who can help. I attempted researching Chinese cards only to find very little - especially with value.
Nice find! To answer your question, yes they are rare. However that doesn’t make them valueable. The problem faced with cards like that is that they aren’t in Japanese or English. Most people only collect in those two languages. People like me (who enjoy all languages) are the people would find some rarity and would enjoy cards like those. I personally wouldn’t grade them with PSA but as said before there just isn’t a demand for these cards. The only cards I see with the potential are Charizard and Pikachu since you can find sole Charizard collectors and sole Pikachu collectors. Overall, they are a very niche collectible so if you are looking to sell or grade, it’s all about finding a buyer that is willing to pay what you are willing to sell it for. If you plan on keeping them, then I say go for whatever makes you happy.
Hope this helped!
