Changes to Australia Post Letter Prices (4th Jan 2016)

@ozenigma Mexico is crazy, 266 hours of minimum wage to afford a passport, around a months salary if 9 hours work/day including weekends

It is crazy. Some people on this forum would tell you that’s perfectly fine though because you have to grind to be able to afford normal things like that though. These same people wouldn’t have an issue with the Mexican minimum wage

Maybe we should coin it the Mexican Dream.

This is what happens when conservatives get in for 2 years and f*** everything up. Let’s ruin everything so 2 sociopaths can come and buy up every company in Australia and screw everyone over. Charging more for less is fun because there’s no competition now… Yaayy hahahhahas hahshsvd vz hdvdbdvsggvavvavavsgdb

On the competition point. Did i see some advertising a little while back that office works was getting into parcel post? Anyone tried it?

That system is already fully operational, if you go into Officeworks you’ll see their blue postage storage boxes at the front of the store.

I personally haven’t tried it yet as I’m still unsure about it =\

Yeah I use it every now and then it is cheaper for heavier items $20 for 10KG is awesome, but a bit slower as it is by road especially to areas outside CBD and outlying suburbs

$11 - 1KG
$12 - 2KG
$15 - 5KG
$20 - 10KG

Those prices are incredible…
Do they just drop everything at the door or do they require signature etc etc

@snap They deliver to addresses only no P.O. Boxes or remote islands, you can add signature on delivery/insurance etc. It is handy as Officeworks are open later than post offices and open weekends too and no annoying Aussiepost clerks to deal with as you just scan label and put in the locker

The only negative thing about Mailman is that you can only track progress on Officeworks site. When you upload tracking to eBay it only shows when bought label and you dropping parcel off pretty annoying

A friend of mine sent a letter and the letter never got here.

She lives in the next town. 5 minutes away.

Would’ve been better to just drop it off, oi vey. Auspost is revolting.

I sent a no rarity blastoise in the mail to someone… never arrived xD

A little update with Officeworks mailman:

I sent a parcel on 17th Jan no tracking updates since 18th Jan arrived out of the blue on 8th Feb.
Parcel contents value was $160 and I bought $300 extra cover. Item arrived damaged which was very annoying as there were no tracking updates for so long. BUT the kicker was when I rang them up they said that if the parcel was not SIGNED for then extra cover is not applicable no matter how much extra cover you buy. Luckily my package was signed for but I am currently waiting to hear back on my insurance claim (been 5 business days; they stated would take 2, then 4).

Fastway couriers (mailman) is a scummy company in my opinion I will not be using them in the future, absolutely zero customer service, they should not make their customers feel as though I might not get my insurance claim after no tracking for 22 days, arrived damaged, extra cover and signed for on delivery.

TLDR
Do not use mailman (fastway couriers), if you must use them for some reason purchase extra cover and MAKE SURE you tick signature on delivery - if you are still keen on cheaper options try researching AUSPOST label printing I can send up to 3KG satchel for $11.70 + price of bag which is like 35c

Man that sucks. I was hoping Mailman would be a good alternative to Aus Post.

UPDATE:

Even worse, finally got a hold of a manager from Officeworks who was honest with me and said that Fastway Couriers legally has 120 days to respond to a claim and that I shouldn’t expect a payout any time soon as it is likely that they will use this time up.

My advice would be to not give them one cent of your business as they will screw you around to the nth degree.

The insanity:

$300 Extra cover is purchased
No tracking update for 22 days
Takes 23 days to arrive
Arrives damaged
Was signed for on delivery
Tells me that it takes 2, then 4 days to process a claim
Tells me that if the item is not signed for then your extra cover is worthless
Tells me that no not 2 nor 4 days, Fastway will take up to 120 days to process an insurance claim LOL

This might be of some assistance. Threaten to call the Ombudsman on their ass. And do it all super quick.

They are super dodgy I have been contacting them via message so I have physical copy of their responses. For ombudsman you need to establish communication with their complaints department and I asked them to put me in touch with complaints and they avoided the question! So I think they are trained to avoid questions like this. VERY dodgy also when you send an email to their ‘claims’ department you get an automated response.

I will be gathering information for the ombudsman, this is obviously their way of weeding out claims so that people get disheartened and just give up. You should see their Facebook page it is hilarious, they will post like a happy Christmas message and there will be 20-30 people commenting on where their packages are and how dodgy the service is.
