Champion Road - Original Neo Artwork Reprint

Well, I suppose so since we have Evolutions.

It’s not “WOTC” artwork. It’s The illustrators artwork.

Ah, I understand now.

I’m starting to feel like I want to complete this set  Everything that has been revealed so far has been great. Also it looks like they will also reprint Torchic and Combusken from Ruby & Sapphire to go together with the Blaziken: pbs.twimg.com/media/DbOuywDU0AEqozO.jpg

I love that electrode, really has the original artwork feel to it with a bit of modernisation. After seeing that i am 100% completing this set.

Big stack of new cards have been revealed. So many goodies like Tyranitar, Steelix etc. from Neo era.

I think this will all be imported into SM7 crystal blessing

Steelix looks awesome!

Really liking the old era on new cards…hope this pattern continues!

I actually really dislike this. Pokemon is turning into Magic if they keep reprinting art. Part of the reason I like Pokemon is that they use new art for every set. I feel like they are using this as an excuse to get lazy.

I think if the sets are almost entirely reprinted art, I would be upset. However, sometimes, a quick nod to the old sets is pretty cool

I definitely love seeing the arts as 3rd gen was my favorite era (my era as a kid) alongside these neo inspired cards. From a players perspective unfortunately the vast majority of these cards are considered currently underwhelming and the majority opinion at the moment seems to concur this set is more similar in terms of Evolutions in terms of player demand (IE will be pretty non-existent). Just something to keep in mind if anyone wants to keep in mind the player perspective.

The percentage of re-used art is low in Pokemon. These type of releases are by far an exception. It is good to re-hash old designs here and there. It might help older players/collectors get back into the hobby.

I love the Neo era art, but I’ve never felt so unexcited about a set.

Was hoping for a mix of old and new on the regular cards. Maybe they will have some more interesting secret rares.

It’s too bad you feel that way! I actually feel the complete opposite. To be honest I was loosing interest and hope in new TCG releases. I’m glad these old school artworks are being reintroduced on new SM card layouts. Hopefully you change your mind once you see our complete sets! :smirk:

I think it’s the lack of focus.

Maybe the set could have been larger or included retrained versions of all gen 2 and 3 starters, more iconic Pokemon, more ex, etc.

Maybe they could have used old card layouts like Evolutions?

Idk, it seems strange. I think there’s meant to be an emphasis on older cards which were playable but most people won’t really understand that.

Something closer to evolutions would have been a more complete product imo.

That would’ve also been nice!
