Can someone help?

Does anyone know any really really old topics showing off rare cards that I can respond to before pfm locks it and screams into the E4 void in frustration? I can act like a new user and ask to be DM’d if it will help.

The older the better, extra bonus points if the user has either deleted or not been seen in equally as long.

Hahahaha I was thinking exact same thing there’s a spate of it going on. New members going straight at it and then terrified by the response likely never to be heard from again lol. Let’s welcome them to our community… lock.

My favorite old thread is when this self-described “lurker” decided to post his collection: ShyGuy's Collection

Post your kik there and ask if he’ll take dogecoin.

There does appear to be an uptick.

I attribute it to what appears to be Google serving a more diverse set of threads in search results

These are generally not people that are going to stick around, they are here to complete a specific task. Either way, their posts remain undeleted so if someone wants to take them up on their request they still can.

The ones that post in the Welcome thread, as they are prompted to in an initial DM, are the ones that will generally stay. Everyone does a really good job welcoming those users.

Did not expect any of that

It’s ok I know there’s a fair few that come to me lol.

It might have to do with a whole new generation of people who have never grown up with the old internet ala a more traditional online forum where topics slowly get buried due to time but can be necro’d up the top by just replying.

I gotta admit I am loving these random 10 year old topics popping up, a little bit of chaos. :sunglasses: Just thinking that someone expects an answer from a random person from a decade ago is wild lol.

I will say one thing I noticed specifically on reddit is that there was a change some time ago where people could reply back to any old thread no matter how old it is. I’ve come across topics where I was looking for an answer and the OP was 10+ years old but there would be a guy from 3 months ago that chimed in with a helpful answer.

I think people forget to look at the dates. I know im always excited to see something interesting show up only to find out its been dead for 6+ years.

As far as reddit, they originally had open replies, then they closed anything older than a year and considered it archived, and about a year or two ago they undid archiving and allowed open replies again. Its definitely odd but amusing to get questions to a years old comment, its more annoying to have someone whose only history is pokemons wallstreetbets asking if i’ll sell something i posted 5 years ago.

“Any interest in selling that team up box, paypal ready, dm me”
Bro, that was release week and it was opened 5 seconds after the photo.

@pfm Ahh, a video that perfectly encapsulates what I was saying lol.

@lyleberr You already have enough on your plate just moderating all the Pokemon tcg subreddits, having to deal with the investor bros over the past few years must be torture at this point.

This is helping me a lot recovering thread from before I was born honestly, the small ones at least.

Also gotta bump some non-tcg thread before it gets too late…

nah @pfm I’m going to open them up again if they are getting closed, you have to permaban me from Life, not even E4, to stop me
