Can anyone assess this card for a grade estimation?

It’s a 1995 base set Alakazam, I was looking for a grade estimation before I try sending it to PSA as I’ve never done this before so, any ideas?

PSA publishes their grading standards right on their website: https://www.psacard.com/gradingstandards

Personally I’d say a 3. Back whitening, edge silvering, brown spots on border and significant holo scratches. Plus it’s vintage.

What does the vintage part have to do with it?

PSA is harsh on vintage these days.

Dang. I’m just trying to find any cool card in my collection PSA 10 worthy because I feel it would be pretty nice to have a 10.

PSA 3 also, don’t send it

A vintage 10 with a modern cert will likely be flawless to the naked eye. If you can see a single scratch, or white spot, if it’s off centred etc it won’t get a 10. Any kind of ding makes it an automatic 6 (at best).

But it’s a cool card and would go great in a binder!

If you want a 10, I suggest just buying one instead of trying to get your own via grading.

where’s the ding..?

It’s impossible to say based on your pictures. If you tell us the grade that you’re hoping for we can probably tell you yay or nay though.

I’m not saying there is a ding on your card, that was a general comment. More photos would help, but personally i wouldn’t send that card in for grading.

Ive sent a ton of vintage in from base set, rocket, jungle right out of the packs and you gotta either be blowing someone grading your card or hit a lottery day when they just got the best best news of their entire life and are in a really good mood to not end up with a 7,8,9. Its gonna be a ton of crack and resubbing even with mint cards with how PSA grades vintage english now.

Sorry, I would guess a PSA 5. If you’re looking for a PSA 10 of this card, you’ll have to buy one.
